I want to see this in first grade honestly.

I’ve been very impresssd with Fitzgibbon. I reckon he’s not too far away. Leiula had put back on all the 10kgs he dropped in the pre season.

Many were writing him off earlier together with Madden. Good coaching system as we have now will do wonders. Also the players in NYC, don't forget them.

I was definitely on of those who didn’t rate madden. But he has improved every week and his passing display today was fantastic. Good prospect.

I would think that we would be a better NRL team if our NRL back 5 was this back 5 honestly.

Diane Laurie says hi

I meant like if you swapped all 5 of these straight for our 5 that this 5 would do better. But yes Laurie is the best of the 10 lol.

Attack is chalk and cheese when looking at our NRL team

Just have so many players in motion. They all look to offload. It’s that second phase play.

Great to watch compared to one out rubbish we watch in 1sts

Unfortunately there will be teams lining up for him.

I don’t. We would be the slowest backline to ever play first grade.

People have to stop watching reserves as any real indication of how a player will go in firsts. The difference in speed makes it a very poor comparison.

Love the spudisms.
'zacker-clay'

He’s good for a laugh I reckon

He had this clanger a few weeks ago when BJ was first dropped....
"The thing I like about young kids coming though is he's been dealt the blow of moving down to reserve grade but he hasn't spit the dummy..."
Spud....BJ turns 30 this year and has played over 200 NRL games

Mikaele was very good today. Good to see a player get dropped and react in a positive way.

Agree. Amone and tulagi were also very good. BJ is such a disappointment. So lazy. Comes out of the line in defence and misses the tackle. Would be a miracle if he is here next year.

It certainly is, has to be Madge

Its the forwards dominating. In reserves they go 1-2 then wide. Madden is a big focal point as well his pass selection and his calls play an important part. He has to be close to getting a call up. Sure defence will always be questioned but geez he can organize and set plays up well - better than our 1st halves.

BJ is gone. He has switched right off shame his legacy will end this way.

Nice watching a football game where we are dominant in both defence and attack with plenty of cohesion to boot. Better execution at times would have seen this become a cricket score. Some good players to watch and continue developing in this grade - we have a few that are above this level.
In contrast some of the deadset worst commentary I have ever heard by the main caller. It’s like he learnt five players names from each side and proceeded to call players from each 17 one of those five names.

Western Suburbs Magpies have extended their winning streak to five games in a row with a comfortable 46-6 win over the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles in today's Knock On Effect NSW Cup game.

Boosted by a strong lineup including several NRL players, Ben Gardiner's side led from start to finish against the Sea Eagles — running in four tries to one in the first half before controlling the match well to emerge with a 40-point win.

Dropping back from the NRL side, young front row forward Thomas Mikaele was strong for the Magpies — bagging the opening try while producing a number of tough carries in his first stint — while Kiah Cooper continued his excellent try-scoring to start the season with four four-pointers on the day.

The win sees Western Suburbs move back to second on the competition ladder ahead of next week's clash against a Dragons side on the bottom of the table.

With Mikaele and Cooper both crossing for tries inside the opening 10 minutes, it was the home side who played off the front foot for the majority of the first half.

Good scramble defence from Wests kept their try-line in tact — Tom Amone producing an incredible one-on-one strip over the line to deny the Sea Eagles — before Cooper's vision saw him run the length of the field for an intercept try.

Madden's wayward conversions kept the score at 12-0 despite the home side's marked dominance, before hooker Jacob Liddle and lock forward Tom Freebairn combined to go further in front just short of the hour mark.

Zac Saddler got the visitors on the board in the final play of the first half, which would certainly have frustrated Coach Ben Gardiner, but it didn't take away from the Magpies' first half dominance as they went to the lead up by 12 points.

Wests began the second half as quickly as they began the first, with Liddle taking advantage of some lazy marker defence to restore the hosts' 18-point lead.

Regan Hughes got in on the try-scoring on the 57th minute mark when he reacted quickest to a kick from Madden that saw Brad Keighran placed on report for dangerous contact, before Joey Leilua sent Cooper over for his third try shortly after to put the game beyond doubt with 20 minutes to play.

Edenn Rogers-Smith went off injured late in a blow for the Magpies but it was one-way traffic in terms of points, with Cooper bagging his fourth try in the final minutes to confirm a big result for the home side and their fifth win in a row.

**Western Suburbs Magpies 46 (Cooper 3, Mikaele, Freebairn, Liddle, Hughes tries; Madden 4/7, Walters 1/1 goals) def. Blacktown-Workers Sea Eagles 6 (Saddler tries; Keighran 1/1 goals) at Bankwest Stadium**

Very good game by everyone.
The best Liddle, Cini, Cooper, Amone, Mikaele.
Cini is promising, dominating at this level, we have to be careful - he could be our next Papenhuyzen!

Cooper is much better than AJ or Talau.
