Have I missed something with Saifiti?

Nope they've lost the plot. Players like Lawrence haven't played Origin and they pick this guy? Lol

And he didn't even play well in previous Origins.

I am lost also as why Matto didn't get picked. Done everything needed. Getting over Origin. Atleast we will have all hands on deck coz with our draw we need them. I believe we can do what we need to do.

I think Madge should be taking a few tips from Roy Masters and instilling the fact that if you play for WT you're an outsider. How Matterson could be replaced by Graham just shows what the powers to be think. Start instilling the us vs them attitude.

Can't remember the last time they picked such an unpopular side. Question marks, often, but just so deadly unpopular.

What I truly don't get is why pick Ryan Matterson as 18th man if you are going to overlook him when you actually do pull in 3 new forwards recruits. Matto is easily in front of Sims and Graham, but why not pick Sims as 18th man for the previous game, was he injured?

I echo previous comments - Wade Graham has played 1 game of footy in 9 months and they reckon he'll be right for this? C'mon seriously.

And Saifiti... christ, we thought Twal was a left-field suggestion, but this bloke has been around a while and done honestly not much ever. Didn't realise we were so desperate on props. Probably tells you they would have recalled Woods if he was fit.

Latrell had a bad game sure, but dropping him is CRAZY. Potentially the best player on the field and true game-breaker; Morris also solid in Game 1, but you pick the guy who literally lost the match for us in game 1.

When you've got players who do a whole pre season at a club then jump ship before Rd 1 and line up against that club a few weeks later or players being shopped around and jumping ship left right n centre halfway through the season it's a bit hard to get players to buy into an us v them mentality.

A week later, they may be "them"

Yes lets just continue as is - were doing fine just as is.

He keeps some really poor performers but drops Latrell. It’s not just wacky, it’s suss.
Something dodgy or underhanded is most certainly going on.

Watching a few of the footy shows on fox last night, the main criticism was why all these changes when we only lost by 4, & an intercept try at that? Thing is Qld bombed, I mean really bombed 3 tries so it could’ve quite easily been a bloodbath.

Change was needed but these aren’t the changes I expected.

If Qld show up with the same defensive attitude as they did in the 2nd half of game 1 then NSW will struggle.

Morris and Mitchell dropped and Wighton keeps his spot. Wighton was one of the worst and Morris was one of the best in game one. Mitchell is currently the best centres running around in the NRL. Cleary is a lost lamb at the moment, going nowhere and dreadful in game one. If the halves go any good in game two it will be because of Maloney. Don’t even get me started on the forward and bench selections. I’m calling it, sack Freddy.

I was sure Morris would be kept! his defence was on point and he scored a try....what more can u ask? Obviously a lot more cos he got dropped.......Fittler, please read this lol

Fittler discovering that selecting SOO sides a lot more challenging, once you are responsible for it, than sitting on the outside looking in with all the answers.
His predecessor copped plenty for his selections yet was able to win a series against a QLD side that was arguably the best of all time, and only fell short by the smallest of margins in another series.
Injuries have hampered the selection process no doubt, but 7 changes from the first team that he selected makes you question his judgement.
The pressure is definitely on him.

We have a precedent that players are not selected like for like in positions but just what fits; sure I like Turbo (and he has played centre for Australia) but never can I remember 2 players being dropped when one was more than satisfactory last game - I feel badly for Josh Morris who is a proven State of Origin performer.

I have no problems with dropping Mitchell, the guy did not want to be there in game 1. How you can drop Morris is a disgrace to the NSW jumper. Saifiti is a joke cannot do it for Newcastle how the hell will he be able to step up.

Having said my gripe I also believe it may be closer than I first thought.

@sheer64 I think NSW will win, but only due to Turbo, Graham and Addo-Carr being able to turn this one - of course the refs will no doubt want a Game 3... then again Ferguson could lose it for us and indeed, J. Morris should be one of our centres, superman? Or was that Brett

The NSW Blues have named Ryan Matterson and Clint Gutherson as 18th and 19th man for Sunday's State of Origin II in Perth.

Matterson was 18th man for the Blues in Origin I and retains that position while Gutherson is one of several new faces in the squad.
