NSW Origin II Team

7 or 8 changes is just insane... Really difficult for these blokes to gel in such a short time

The more I think about it the Maloney change was smart

Not boosting the front row stocks on the bench was madness .....Cook and Tedesco are the players who will win the game for NSW

Arrow will be a big loss ......he leads Qld's line speed .....Wallace has massive shoes to fill in that regard

Hey all many claiming Matterson isn't 18th man

Wonder when freddy darling is going to get the flipping hint, and give matto some game time

I am ready to give up on this NSW team.
Look I don't know more then Freddy. But far out.

I have zero idea what Freddy is trying to solve with the NSW side. To me the biggest problem was the crapola defense. So the take out our two centers, Morris and Mitchell. I thought Morris had a great game but ok. Mitchell had a brain explosion but was still one of the few threats that night. NSW just did not care about defense and got owned by a pack they should have stood a chance against.

Then we putting Turbo in the Centers where we lack defensively? I can't see how Turbo is better then Latrell in any way.

Lack of Prop/muscle on the bench.
Lack of a back row reserve/xfactor on the bench.

Glad to see Tariq Sims get a run. Other then that ready to quit supporting NSW, over these dumb decisions.

A brilliant tactical ploy by Fittler has ensured there will be a decider in Sydney and Blues likely to start odds on in Perth. He has the side practicing with a wet ball due to the forecast wet conditions. I hope security is tight in the camp or the Maroons might copy.

I think this is the best example that Fittler has no idea what the hell his doing...Really Brad!!! why not change the chevron’s to white and call them Victorian’s..😡😬

I think Fittler might lose his huevos when NSW lose this game

I agree - immediate reaction is that it has Victorian colouring.

Here is the VRL jersey you speak of, U18s

Worse still, here are the Victorian state and Victorian metro AFL jerseys

The latter is basically the new NSW origin jersey.

**Timana Tahu to be sacked from NSWRL after anthem boycott claims: report**
03:07
WWOS Ch:Nine

Former Blues star Timana Tahu will reportedly be sacked from his developmental role with the NSWRL after claiming Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker’s boycott of the national anthem played a role in their axing for State of Origin II.

In a column for NITV, Tahu acknowledged the anthem protest wasn't the sole reason why Mitchell and Walker were given the boot, but it did play a role.

“I’m not sure it’s purely (Brad Fittler’s) call. I feel like Freddy’s had pressure on him from the top,” Tahu wrote.

“Even though there are selectors, the politics come into it and I feel like some old boys might have come in and shared their two cents with the coach.

“We are a country where a lot of people have come from overseas and made this place home. It’s something that the boys involved had a strong feeling about it.

“Did it cost some of them their positions in the team? I think yes and no."

Tahu was last month invited to help out with a NSW pathways program with fellow former Blues players Brett Hodgson and Matt Cooper.

NSWRL chief executive David Trodden described the former NSW star’s remarks as "seriously misguided” and said Tahu was unlikely to be involved with the state’s rising stars again.

(AAP)
“I’ve read the comments which were attributed to him and if they’re accurately attributed to him, he needs to have a serious think about what he said,’’ Trodden told The Daily Telegraph.

“The absurdity of what he says is really demonstrated by the fact that Cody Walker and Latrell Mitchell weren’t the only two in the NSW team who didn’t sing the national anthem.

“Because if he thinks that’s what has happened, then that reflects more on him and the standards that he sets for himself than it does on Freddy or anybody to do with NSWRL.

“Freddy is an honourable man who would never let things like that get in the way of decisions that he makes on selections.

“If other people think that Freddy or anybody else involved with the NSWRL have that approach, then they’re seriously misguided and they really need to reflect on what they said.

“If he genuinely believes that’s the way the NSWRL treat people then he’s on a completely different page from us and you wonder how someone who is on a completely different page can satisfactorily contribute to your organisation.’’

The alternative is pretty ordinary. I'd sit tight.

I was stunned like the rest of us with Mitchell's exclusion, but I seen a story on NRL.com yesterday.

It describes passages of play with footage and I must admit it totally justifies Freddy's decision imo.
Any NSW fan should be disgusted with the lack of effort show by Mitchell and how much it impacted the game.
Freddy trying to set new standards around the Blues simply can't carry the bloke, even if he can produce moments of brilliance.
Dead set Case Closed for me after watching it - go have a look at the link below

I think you've been hoodwinked TBH. I read the article and watched the footage in full.

It reeks of panicked support of an unpopular decision. About half of the incidents were spurious at best. E.g. "if Latrell doesn't go for the intercept QLD don't make the break". That's a one-time decision, it's not as if Latrell is notorious for rushing out for intercepts.

I am 99% sure of three things:
(1) If I was to look at any Latrell Mitchell match at all, I could pick out 7 instances where he could have tried harder;
(2) If I was to apply the same review to Greg Inglis, I'd also find tonnes of instances where GI could have "pushed up" more aggressively;
(3) I could pick any single game and find instances of laziness for any player in the Origin side. Especially at Origin level, given the constant speed of the matches and the weight of the collisions.

Or to put it another way - Josh Morris apparently did nothing wrong, but he got hooked as well. Where is the review of the Josh Morris laziness incidents? And Wighton threw the match-turning pass and he got promoted - don't need a highlights reel to remember that part. But ho, Wighton gets promoted.

We only have to cast our minds back 1 year, Latrell has had some indifferent Origin matches before.

I made the Inglis comparison #2 to highlight that they have similar styles of involvement - neither GI nor Latrell are 100% push-up, 100% on-ball players like, say, a Slater or a Cronk. They are going to get a bit lazy at times, they are going to fail to chase some kicks and sometimes go for the hero play instead of the smart play.

They are also the two blokes that when you give them the ball with nothing on, they are as likely as any other footballer to create something, just through pure physical ability.

But bottom line is that Latrell, Tedesco and Cook are the Top 3, dare I say ONLY 3, threats in the NSW side. How QLD must be so happy to be facing up Morgan/Chambers vs Turbo/Wighton, rather than Turbo/Mitchell.

And when your opposition is pleased with your selections, you've either got an ambush set up or you've made a critical mistake. You all reckon Jack Wighton is going to ambush QLD in Game II? Jack Wighton who, apart from being a mug at any given time, hasn't played a match at centre since Rd 23 2014?
