Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs five-eighth Josh Reynolds has been selected in the No. 6 jersey for the Blues to take on Queensland at Suncorp Stadium on May 28.

As had been widely speculated over recent days, Canterbury Bulldogs halves Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson have displaced incumbents James Maloney and Mitchell Pearce in the NSW State of Origin side for Game I on May 28 in Brisbane.

Bulldogs back-rower Tony Williams has also forced his way back into the side, while in-form Roosters winger Dan Tupou will make his interstate debut outside clubmate Michael Jennings.

There was no room for 2013 fullback Josh Dugan, with Eels custodian Jarryd Hayne rewarded for his rich form with the first chance in his preferred No.1 jersey.

Rugged Knights back-rower Beau Scott forced his way into the starting side despite missing his side's Round 10 clash against Manly with an abdominal strain after performing strongly all season and particularly in the recent City v County fixture.

Cronulla back-rower Luke Lewis also earned a spot despite having played just two games this season after injuring his shoulder during Australia's World Cup campaign last year.

Congrats to Legend and Woods for being picked.

Can not understand the Trent Merrin love.

T-Rex is lazy but can provide impact.

I dont like the backrow…Hoffman and Scott.Been there done that.

And the bench loks a little light too.....

And Tupou???

I would have played Dugan..pushed Hayne into centre.

On the upside…two tigers to cheer for.

Hopefully more kin the near future,

But two isnt bad.....Origin is sooo boring without any tigers.

I'm warming to the team.

Average 2nd row with Hoffman and Scott.
A good bench though, great impact off there.

Woods will need to improve big time from last year - he looked out of place. I hope he's up to it!

Agreed. It looked far too quick for him and he looked overawed. Hopefully he will just rip in this year.

Second row is week, it's a position historically we've had depth in, but with the two most likely starters unavailable (Bird and Cordner), it looks very thin. I am not sold on Hodkinson, but otherwise it's a strong team.

Beau Scott… NFI how he still gets a look in.

But I suppose with Fifita, Cordner and Bird out, there were going to be roughy selections. Crying shame that our injuries are to the positions where we are strongest, where our boys are the Australian selections as well.

Queensland by 30.

What a crap NSW side. The selectors have no idea. No thought for the future except for Jackson.

Brooks could have been 18th man. Good experience for him.

Really magpiecol?

That's funny, for the first time in like 10 years it's the same team I would have picked.

They are just unlucky Bird is out =/ Jackson should perhaps play instead of of Beau Scott, no impact there.

Other than that it's the best they could pick IMO.

I like the team named. Hodgkinson gets an opportunity and I think they got the rest of the team correct. I'm not 100% sold on him but Pearce has had his chances and it hasn't worked out for him. Together with Reynolds they're leading the comp so they should be in form. I think Hayne and Farah will be the two players who are our most threatening anyway so hopefully Reynolds runs it and Hodgkinson kicks well.

Hoffman is solid and with so much x-factor coming off the bench, he's a good choice to start. Beau Scott has played well even if most of his teammates haven't. He's running it well and he's always a strong defender.

I'm quietly confident we can do it this year. I'm not sure what it is, but something feels different.

Peaches I agree, I think they actually picked the best team they could this year for the first time in a bloody long time. I really can't wait to see Reynolds and Farah play together, I think those 2 will bring the passion, the fire, the heart and soul

Overall I really like the team.

Obviously cordner and bird would have been the 2nd rowers if avail. The bench has plenty of impact…..think tariq simms would have been my pick ahead of merrin or williams.

Although I was shocked at pearce being dropped....I gotta say I think its the right move. When you have the honor of wearing the blue jersey you need to conduct yourself in a manner at the highest level. Last year the blake ferguson issue really took the wind out of our sails after game one and the year before Tamou found himself in drink driving incident before origin and it just took the focus away from playing SOO footy.

These guys need to start living their lives at the highest standards. ATM their more like part time amateur criminals....its such an ugly look. I do think that mitchell pearce's incident was quite minor compared to blake ferguson but at the end of the day.........it needs to change and stop.

In that regards I applaud Laurie & the selectors......it might cost us another series....but you know thats not the most important thing here.....its honesty and integrity and quite frankly Qld have more of it.

Thats not to say I want Qld to win....because I'm still 100% Blues and I'll support this side next week to give it their all. And we will stand together and with our heads held high.

ps: good choice to keep the pivots together from the same club...at least our attack may gel a little better. Think reynolds will do well and hope Trent fits in quickly.

Gotta laugh at Luke Lewis

Says he has played 2 games back. For someone like Lewis that'll do me, he'll handle it. All class as a footballer wish we got him instead of Sharks.

I just hope that Daley told Hodgkinson and Reynolds that they are playing in all 3 games.
