Match report after second third from Wests Tigers Official website:
Wests Tigers lead Penrith 32-14 at the second break in the opening NYC trial match of 2014\. A third period of 20 minutes will be played.

Wests Tigers opened their season against last year's premiers Penrith in 35 degree heat in Camden with a side featuring a host of familiar names.

Two of those familiar faces combined to open the scoring in just the second minute, with Mitchell Moses throwing a brilliant cutout pass to winger Delouise Hoeter who crossed in the right corner.

Five-Eighth Mitchell Moses missed the sideline conversion.

Moses missed the kick from the sideline in what was expected to be the only attempted conversion of the afternoon, with both coaches appearing to agree to keep the game flowing.

Penrith were off to a horrible start, kicking out on the full from the restart, and they were immediately made to pay.

Former Keebra Park centre and Schoolboy player of the year Marion Seve took a nice pass to skip by his man with ease, before offloading to Hoeter who had his second of the afternoon after just five minutes.

Penrith managed to get themselves back in the game, but the Wests Tigers' try line wasn't troubled.

Seve was on the scoresheet himself as Wests Tigers capitalised on a penalty, Moses again working the right side of the field to combine with fullback Sione Alofi who sent his centre into the corner.

That gave the home side a 12-0 after as many minutes.

Penrith were ruining any chance of competing in the game, giving away penalties that allowed Wests Tigers to dominate field position and possession.

Second rower Salesi Funaki kept the momentum up in the 17th minute, producing a brilliant flicked offload to Mitchell Moses who showed his trademark dancing feet to cruise under the posts from close range.

Wests Tigers kept up the onslaught in the 19th minute, left winger John Ogden finishing a break to stretch the lead to 20.

It looked like Penrith would never trouble the scorers, but winger Solofa Silifa managed to capitalise on a run of possession for the Panthers, crossing out wide on the left.

Interestingly, Penrith chose to take their conversion after Wests Tigers had previously denied theirs, which would leave the score at 20-6 after 22 minutes.

Penrith would score again just before just before the first break, which would come at 30 minutes in this trial, left centre Akeripa Tiakilifi crashing through Mitchell Moses from close range.

Penrith chose not to take their conversion to leave the score at 20-10.

Wests Tigers heavily rotated their side coming into the second 30, with each side barely recognisable from the opening exchanges.

A number of players including Mitchell Moses would now prepare to feature in the NRL team later in the evening.

Penrith opened the scoring in the second period after four minutes when Naya Freeman crossed for the Panthers on the right wing.

The game soon resembled an ice hockey match with the Panthers replacing almost their full side.

The new Wests Tigers side soon settled in and got themselves on the scoreboard, winger Tom Satterthwaite touching down in the corner after a bomb was spilled.

That left the score at 24-14 with 43 minutes gone.

78' — Penrith take the ball into touch inside our 10\. We'll work it out of our own end with a scrum feed.

79' — One last chance for Penrith after we give away a penalty in the play the ball. Panthers with the ball on halfway

gavets shoulder and chest look really small compared to his legs. did he suffer some upperbody injury? or maybe its just the angle of the pic.

seve looks very strong, cant wait to hit up a game and watch him in person. Hopefully round 1

Yeh great effort PL, all those updates, photos, all while watching the game.
Top work!

Oh no Ink, I was just relaying the tweets and reports from Wests Tigers reporting; wish I WAS there though! He deserves the credit!

(now waiting on the big boys)

Thanks for all the updates PL. Impressive scoreline against last season's premiers but we certainly look to have a strong squad this year.

Thx Phantom. Solid work
Imaging the scoreline if there were conversion kicks. Potentially another 22 odd points.

Is this the most players we've ever had come down from Keebra in one year? I certainly can't remember this many previously. 2013 certainly seemed like a good year for the school.

Interesting to see how long it takes for the side to mesh. You'd think it's basically going to be a hybrid of that Keebra team (plus guys like Dallas graham and hoeter who came down last year) and the Balmain Matthews teams of the last 2 years.

Really you would think if they do click with that sort of talent they should do the NYC comp in third gear.
