😂😂 where do you guys get your information from, I’m loving it at this club**

Out of interest, would you blokes all prefer no comment from players.............or open denials, like Esan did, which prove to be completely untrue?

Personally,I'd prefer players to not comment unless it is completely true.

Strong rumour Marsters was released to further top up Mbyes contract.

Sure it wasn't to top up Reynolds' contract?

It was to support Packers bonus.....

Actually to provide for Jason Taylor’s retirement fund post coaching.

Whilst I do understand where you’re trying to come from there is no inference from Esan that he is staying, he asks a question but doesn’t deny its validity and then inserts that he enjoys the club he is at.

After this post he has then taken up an opportunity that benefits his future, not sure about you but I have left a job before that I loved but it couldn’t provide the same opportunity that my new job could, I personally can’t see the issue with what Esan has posted.

From what POM said his management initially asked for an extension. The post you are referring to was from the Mole which said he wanted out because he wasnt getting the footy enough. You don’t ask for an extension if you are unhappy with the ball you getting and want out. You are also unlikely to have your team and coach at your wedding. So Esan’s reply seems completely justifiable. But when told to look around and receiving a significantly increased offer he accepted it.

@ElleryHanley just re read the article no mention of wanting more money.

https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.nine.com.au/article/1fb0f60e-b0ad-41ae-88b0-92f776671d6e

As I just said the article is about him not getting enough footy and wanting out. Hardly the picture POM painted. Know who I believe.

Yes, I have done the same.

But Esan's reply was to a story that his management had approached the club and asked for an upgrade and that he wanted more money. Also that he was set to join the cows.

So, his "LOL crying smiles" etc "where do you get your information from" etc did infer it was complete BS.

Which it was not.

All I am saying is we do not need Matterson to post "LOL, where is this coming from. I love the club!" etc when people have called on him to say something. I'd rather Esan had of kept quiet also as it undermines their credibility posting "LOL" comments on things that turn out to be true.

Fair enough mate, I’m probably not the best to comment on the whole twitter or instagram thing due to age and having never used it but it seems to me that young people can’t help but comment on these platforms or engage in “any” type of conversation where they feel included in it.

As far as 2020 is concerned... i definetly c jey rey going somewhere, so mbye at hooker, momo and talau in the centres, and please, anyone apart from nuffie on the wing

Ya never know..... unless u want soni luke to go? Doesnt he play hookers in CC? He wasnt bad this yeat

@Russell 2014 Mbye says hello....however I still think he’d make a good 6, fantastic passing game..decent speed for a half, however he’d have to work on his kicking game.....if you look back momo was mainly scoring tries off Mbye but it didn’t feel like a centre wing combo it felt more like we had and extra 6 there tomball play to momo to finish all on his own, meaning momo was like the winger and centre and we were playing with two 6s

We do need better roster management though mate, I do not think that is debatable. Packer four years for 2-3 million whilst Tatola could have been had for 1/4 of the price.

Packer at his best is better than Tatola, so far. Question is whether Madge can get him back there or not.

I think he can, especially now after the operation and a full on pre season.

it's not as though he's done a matterson.....

the guy got offered silly money to play in FNQ, and he took it....good for him

apart from a few mistakes he did well for us

good luck to him

Another great prospect ( yes he was one of our best players) let go - he may not have played his best this season,, but I did hear that he was playing with an injury - I am anxious to see who will be his replacement.

I am concerned that these players leave our club and go on to play fantastic footy for another club - why is that:scream_cat:

Most players that Tigers let go don't go on to anything. We are a middle to bottom club most years, so we aren't usually letting go of players of high quality in the first place.

But literally, you can count on one, maybe two hands the players that we misjudged and let go, who became really good - Fifita, O'Donnell come to mind. JAC, though he jumped ship too early to truly count in.

Then there are the players over whom we have no control, because they receive massive offers or want to play in clubs that are on a premiership tilt - Tedesco, Woods, Paps, Taupau.

There are the players we didn't have any choice in releasing - Suli, Lodge, Rob Lui, Tim Simona.

And then another 200 hundred or so players that we let go, who did absolutely nothing more in their careers. In just the previous 3 completed seasons up to 2018 - Idris, McIlwrick, Joel Edwards, JJ Felise, Tim Grant, LJL, Kyle Lovett, Frozone, Rankin, Ava, Bayley Siro, MWZ, Mahe, Pita Godinet, Tui Lolohea, Buchanan, Cherrington, Asipeli Fine, Justin Hunt, Nathan Milone, Jesse Sue.

So odds are very much stacked against players leaving Tigers and becoming superstars. Some folks seem to remember as 1 or 2 instances as being "standard", when actually they are the exception.

This is a fair statement jirskyr so how are we to get and KEEP a good team of players together so that we can be the club that all players would want to come to (like Rooster/Melbourne) because we are capable of winning or at least achieving top 8's year after year..
.Esan Marsters will go on to be a great player unlike some of the others you have named in the latter group here - we are going to have to replace him with someone else, I just don't see the sense in that - what if he decides he wants to leave as well ie Ryan Matterson:white- and Marsters frowning_face:

@tigeress I personally don't think Essan will be a great player. A good solid first grader - nothing more. He seemed to put his offload away this past season which was by far his best asset in 2018.
He is not overly fast and he is not overly robust as per Ramien or Leilua.
I believe both Ramien and Lomax are superior players and will continue to be so. I hope we can snare one of them.
The Tigers have obviously put a value on what they believe Marsters is worth to the team and are not prepared to go higher. The fact that another team was prepared to offer him considerably more is irrelevant as each team has specific needs and therefore a particular player may be of greater value to that team than to another.
Anyhow, I am not that upset at Esan leaving. The money saved on his salary may be better spent elsewhere.

we keep a squad like that together by winning matches and harping on about the brotherhood that comes from winning.

Ok Yeti I change my assessment of Marsters to a good solid player, so what is going to be different about the player we get to take his place, will the ones you name Ramien or Lomax want to come to the Wests Tigers- we already had Marsters - we must become a club where players are happy to be, - as ozLuke suggests we need the winning culture:face_with_rolling_eyes:

I like Mbye as a fullback or even centre. IMHO, he was one of the worst defensive 5/8s I had ever seen.
