Official: Esan leaving

@balmain-boy Yeah I seemed to remember he signed with Storm before he played first grade for us. I could be wrong though, that's just my memory.

@jirskyr Moses was a Parra junior , and despite his uncle actually supported the eels. I get he’s of low character , but seems like he was always thinking about them as his preferred choice . He even screwed over the Roosters , which is pretty rare. Still a grub though

“We were able to give Esan his first-grade debut several years ago"

Something I missed when the announcement was initially made, 2017 isn't several years ago. Either there is another player departure announcement on the way or Pascoe doesn't know our players very well

Madge and a few of our players at Esan's wedding tonight ![IMG_20191011_222154.jpg](/assets/uploads/files/1570793087842-img_20191011_222154.jpg)

Congrats to Esan. But how good is the turtle neck Moses is rockin!

So, basically if you play really well all season.........like Matterson......and ask for an upgrade, it is a mortal sin.

But if you play terrible all season, give away two tries in the season deciding game.......like Esan...........and ask for an upgrade, it is applauded and everyone celebrates when you leave with a huge upgrade?

@ElleryHanley it’s pretty clear now , that Matterson was causing problems all year . He also bailed on the team in the final week , and generally speaking , by the amount of info I’ve pieced together through different stories was generally unliked.
If what POM says is true , then I’m sure the Cowboys offered Marsters a kings ransom prior to him being given permission, thus provoking him going in for the chat . Marsters was also off contract after next year , so unlike Matterson (another 2 ) his future was not secured .
The moral of the story , don’t be an absolute douchebag , and general Morale Assassin ,so when you come cap in hand asking for the more the general mood isn’t “pull your head in champ “.

Matterson certainly carried our pack on the field and is mates with Twal, Aoai, etc.

The bottom line is that if you play great, the club won't want you to leave / will keep you to your contract.

If you are ordinary like Esan..............or a complete waste like Packer.....or injured often like Lawry, Josh etc...then they will bend over backwards to help you leave.

All I am saying is that we are sending a fairly clear message that the way out = to play crap.

Re Esan...no way they let him walk if he had of just had a great season. They are doing it as it suits them to do it.

@TYGA Do you mean so we could afford it? Or do you mean we are upping what we are paying for him? Please not the second.

@ElleryHanley What do you expect. Play bad and we will reward you. It's professional sport. I think you are missing the point that Esan and his manager handled this situation well and everyone is cool with it.

I'm not cool with it....now we have to find another overpriced player to take his place.....this just doesn't make sense to me..

.Yesterday I discovered that my membership had been rolled over-I promptly got in touch with the club and cancelled it, I still need to think about this..the club seems to be making crazy decisions and I am unhappy with some of them:white_frowning_face: :white_frowning_face:

@Russell
Russell - Esan Marsters may not be a "local" junior but he played in our Holden Cup side 2015/16, and went on to Intrust Super Cup 2017 and NRL side in June 2017, so he has been around the place for a long while - and I think you'll find he debut at our club:relaxed:

Pretty sure thats what the Roosters call a junior, so i'm with you.

What part of the club giving a player the freedom to explore options and accept a ripper of a deal, leave on good terms with no drama whatsoever doesn't make sense? The guy has scored 17 tries in 61 games and was regularly slammed by supporters for having minimal impact all season. Seems like a reasonable move under the circumstances. Far from crazy.

it's not as though he's done a matterson.....

the guy got offered silly money to play in FNQ, and he took it....good for him

apart from a few mistakes he did well for us

good luck to him
