Official - Josh Reynolds Signs Megathread

Reynolds left for money, no matter how you want to spin it? ( and I don't have a problem with that)
Teddy and Woods left to play in a team that had they believe has a better future on the field, and was better for their future. ( which will indirectly result in better money .), I don't have any problems with that either.

Do you really believe that Reynolds would even consider coming here for LESS money.
It was the one and only reason.
You said yourself that the players, (including Reynolds) came here for the overs that we were paying,
They are actually more mercenary than either Woods or Redesco

Reynolds definitely came for more money but you don't seem to be understanding the situation. Reynolds wouldn't have been offered a first grade contract. If he was going to be offered that contract he would have stayed and not even thought about it.

Our guys were after getting the maximum amount of money and exposure that they possibly could. They had no loyalty at all towards our club.

I hope one day that you can see the difference.

There is a photo going round of Reynolds throwing his leg out at Gutherson. He really needs to knock that rubbish out of his game. He's supposed to be a leader when he gets here. Some like me even think he should be captain. He can't be doing that crap.

Agreed

Reynolds is a mercenary because he wasn't wanted by his current club? That's a ridiculous conclusion.

Canterbury deliberately lowballed him as they were bringing in Foran and they overcapitalised on Mbye and cannot offload him. Given that DCE, Thurston, Hunt are all getting $1m/yr contracts (Mbye is allegedly on $750K and he is garbage,) what Reynolds was offered here is commensurate with his ability given that Hunt is being paid $1m a year, and Moses and Mbye are on more money.

Teddy and Woods were offered good contracts commensurate, some would even argue above, their ability and they still left.

Trying to insinuate that Reynolds' situation and Woods/Teddy's situations are the same thing is disingenuous.

Reynolds loved the Dogs any club trying to get him would have to offer more money as he never wanted to leave. They offered him 400k x 3 years and we paid 650k x 4 years. I don't think the Tigers paid way over 550-600 would be my value but 400k by the Dogs is low. The Dogs forced him out for Foran as they can't get out of the Mbue contract.

I liked the 3 tackles in a row he made to keep Parra in their end at one stage…He also put in some decent long kicks and seems to be the guy who is first down there on the chase..

He improved the a Dogs side that is going like a busted..I like his speed also over short distances...

We have recruited a quality player...not a captain but a leader on the field and by all reports one off it as well...

I'm not saying that we are the only club, paying overs, just one of them that has to.

Saying that money was'nt the main/ only reason for Reynolds coming here , is the definition of disingenuous.
Even he said our offer was "life changing".
Do you think he'd have come near us if the Dogs offered him the same.
If he really "loved the club" he could have stayed for less. Funny how that comment has been bandied around here over the last few years.
He didn't !!
He's a mercenary. And it's his right to be that, as it is for others

In the end it is their choice

I'm sure the money was a major reason he came here, especially when he's been lowballed by
Canterbury. A starting position would likely be the other as well. Canterbury likely tabled an offer as a token gesture so as not to completely insult him. He has no future there next year.

Reynolds left for security, both financial and playing. Woods and Tedesco left for more cash and play at better clubs (good luck with that Woodsy.) You're not a mercenary if you're not wanted. Comparing a player leaving a club he has no effective future at versus two players offered the kitchen sink to stay and leave anyway is disingenuous. If you can't figure out why the two situations are not the same then I cannot help you.

Reynolds tried to trip Gutherson last night.

Is it possible he could know less than he is letting on

I didn't ask for help .
It comes down to opinions, mine is that all professional sportsmen are mercenaries. Their decisions are made for their own betterment, be it monetary of some other benefit. To expect anything else is Nieve.
It's ludicrous to call some players mercenaries, yet others are vilified for the same thing.
Call it what you want, but in the end it works out the same. Players have to look after themselves. And none of us really are there when these things are negotiated. Yet we believe the things that are said by one side or the otherwithout having a hope in hell of knowing the real truth.

You opinion is different to mine and that's fine

It's fine to have a different opinion. The point that you aren't getting is that the situations are very different. The situation with Gagai is similar but he was a Broncos junior rather than a Knights junior.

I think Jack De Belin said when he resigned with Saints he never really considered another offer from another club. Lots of players will stay with their current club and especially their junior club.

Hopefully you can understand this perspective at some point but if you don't that is fine as well.

I understand quite well , I just don't agree,
