Official - Josh Reynolds Signs Megathread

1 & 2 were let go to ensure that we kept 3\. 3 and his slimy manager ensured that 3 had no future here.
From this point the club needed to sign someone, though I am not convinced about the amount of the contract

It's going to be a long summer of speculation with him, whether he just needed a change. The signs are there. The Dogs are useless and low on confidence. Apart from his debut year, he's only ever played under Des. A fresh voice like Cleary's could do wonders.

Fresh start will do him wonders !!! Hard to carry a whole team like he is now because the dogs are playing terrible.. Good luck to Woods next year in his more stable club

I tried to convince myself to like this signing in the early days.

However I am pretty concerned based on what i have watched all season from Josh.

He is the signing I am most concerned about. I think we've overpaid him and given him too long a contract.

He is on a long contract, but I rate him. He has HEART.

Notice how the dogs form has slumped with him gone. People will laugh at me, but we have slumped with RF gone…. whatever his faults he had HEART. ET has Heart and the right attitude.

The biggest mistake we made was using money to keep the big 4\. Had we used culture, heart and team pride, we may have kept 2/4 and for less then those big contracts. Worst case Reynolds will be an average 5/8 that just gets the job done and builds the team, IMHO move him to center or hooker if needed. Best case, we get a SOO level 5/8 that is solid on defense, i.e. exactly what we need.

Brooks is the issue not Reynolds. Brooks will either be good or woeful. Reynolds will either be very good or average. Reynolds won't be a turnstyle so what are people worried about!

In relation to culture I think you might have a point. We've had a culture of developing superstars. It worked in 05 and even later on but it also backfired because we developed a culture of overpaying our marquee players. The problem with this statement though is that our big 4 had really poor attitudes. They honestly expected to be treated like superstars. I think we finally handled the situation a lot better when Clearly came to the club and took their contracts off the table.

As for Reynolds time will tell. He does have heart. You need a lot more than heart to win games though.

Honestly Reynolds is on overs. Hes worth 500k. But I actually dont mind this recruit. He brings a lot to the side. If brooks takes care of the kicking game and reynolds worries about his running game we will be auite dangerous.

Liddle needs a kicking game though. if brooks is the only kicker then the pressure on him every week will be predictible.

What worries me is Josh Reynolds could turn out to be the 'Matt Ballin' of five eights!

Hes still young enough. Came back too early from the hamstring he could barely stride out. His pride probably caused this wanting to farewell the club properly.
I don't think he has a major injury history and calves can strain with bad hamstrings.

We've had a culture of developing decent juniors, blowing smoke up their arse til they think they are superstars and expect to get paid accordingly.

Exactly why the Warriors havnt done nothing in 20 years. They play black football, playing a attacking style with no thought of defence or hardwork.

Thats why melbourne are so good Accountability.

Exactly. We also focus so narrowly on certain players. The big 4 were the latest and these guys were meant to lead us into the promised land.

We need to be comfortable letting players go who are just going to chase the highest payout. You can't build a team around guys like that. Pay good money to quality players but the hail mary idea about developing superstars is always going to be a low percentage play.

i really worried, he looks all busted up .. hummus, calf, elbow and shoulder .. !!

Mmmm, hummus.

Sorry my bad, somehow my computer did an auto correct when I spelt hamstring, and gave me hummus .. weird .. lol, maybe it was telling to have some more dip (hummus) with my cheese and biscuits .. lol But really how bad is Josh banged up at the moment .. we purchased McQueen who's all banged up at the moment, now Reynolds, we don't need another Ballin season .. !!

You should only pay overs for proven superstars. They usually don't play at too many clubs - usually inly one or two.

Market value is decent spending but most clubs pay for what they are missing in their teams that's why there are never 16 teams chasing any one player.

Market value is what someone is willing to pay.

Superstars are very rare in today's game. Thurston a couple of years ago. Taumalolo now. I remember one CEO (I don't know who) stating we had two marquee players in Woods and Robbie. That there is a recipe for disaster.

We can pay market value for quality players. We have paid players a lot more than they are worth hoping they will become superstars and repay us with loyalty.

One of the biggest problems in Reynolds coming here is that he is signed for four years.( I'm pretty sure that is right)
He's not about to blossom into a massive talent in that time, he is looking battered and bruised, and considering that he has had a Huge , High standard pack of forwards around him, for almost all of his career, I still think that we,ve jumped in too quick with him.

4 yrs is a long time.

The bulldogs forward pack has to be the most overrated in the NRL. Currently, the tigers forward pack is outperforming them. Graham is good, but slowing down this year. Klemmer has no passing or offload in his game so the opposition can gang tackle him, Jackson and Tolman are okay workers, the rest are average.

As for Reynolds - he'll be fine, he has a good short kicking game which will be an improvement on Brooks and Lolohea. I'm much more concerned about Brooks than Reynolds next year.
