Officiating 2025

If a wests tigers player scored the same try the same way as Siua Wong for the Roosters. Would it have been awarded a try?
Api’s try weeks ago was ruled a no try which had downward force with his hand but deemed to no have regained control. Did the rules suddenly change for ever other team than the wests tigers?

100% spot on….we never get the rub of the green from the refs…it’s almost like they have been given an edict to never give us a break…no 50/50 calls go our way
I'll go with this to a degree. It would be nice to not have to depend on what the refs are doing in order to win some games. Maybe score a few more tries first. I accept that sometimes you need to make it a topic in order to get in the refs head and shake up biases that certainly exist, but its not the primary reason behind our defeats this season.

Also Luai needs to control his aggressiveness. His Tackle on Blaize Talagi, the scores were level, we had scored more tries than the panthers. It just changed the atmosphere of the game. Once Talagi had kicked the ball, it was only a superficial act to smash him. Same as against the Cowboys, we were not losing that game (yet) either but the early sin bin changes the whole dynamic.

Are we talking about a different game? Because the tackle Luai put on Talagi was before he had kicked the ball and 100% legal.

This won't be popular but when you see someone is going to kick the ball, which is always a number of metres away, you pull out of the tackle. Pressuring is fine.

Always err on the side of caution. Luai should have done this and the other one. He's a million dollar player, he should know better.

I think people think refs have more say on the outcome then they do. 9/10 the best team wins, regardless of the ref.
You have to compete mate, otherwise fans will say person A didn’t put in an effort.
Fine balance.

I'm not disputing the legality of the Tackle. The way the rules are written are complete garbage and contradict themselves, you can be at fault for going after the legs or not directing your tackle at the football. It was a clean tackle but the ref considered it a dangerous act not directed at the football.

Hindsight is 20/20 but what I'm saying is, why even risk it to that degree when scores are level, we've just got through a good defensive set, and they are kicking on the halfway line. The rules are so ambiguous when you actually read them, so its a lot to risk when we've already done the hard yards. We didn't need a mega play to get us out of trouble or change the game.
