Thanks Fonz. 😢

Correct….....Gallant>>>>>>>>>>>North Queensland Cowboys....

Especially when this kid is a local junior who ONLY ever wanted to play as a Magpie all his life. A player who kisses the Magpie on his jersey after every single match, breaks all sorts of records at State Cup level for years on end. Has played less than a handful of NRL matches over the span of 3 years and produced on virtually EVERY single occassion. Scoring more first grade tries than some overpaid hacks.
Waited patiently and battled on over years for Hodgo to retire, being overlooked time and time again by less experienced or skilled personel.
Then puts his body on the line and breaks his leg for a packet of peanuts to be thrown at him by the club!! What a slap in the face!!
Hey Fonzie, i know you read this…..if you don't find a way to keep him, i will stick a mouse trap under your seat at the Grand Final Luncheon!! :sunglasses:

i'm really hoping for a dual announcement of Gallant to NQ AND Fitzy back to us.
How good would that be!!!

if you are looking forward to that then you must be looking forward to someone driving a rusty nailed piece of wood up your "you know what", because that sir would be less painful then watching pretzle boy in a tigers jersey again

Many of you know I've been critical of Tim Sheens in the past. For a while it seemed that there was a select group of us getting hammered every week for our critisisms of Sheens on 'the other board'.

Funny how things turn around though….because I'm going to say right now that I wouldn't sack Sheens at this point.

I thought there was a distinct improvement in the 'style' of play from the Tigers this season, even if the results didn't follow. So much so, that I believe that with the right injections of new players, and the removal of a few certain players, that the Tigers will be a strong chance to take it all next season.

There was some comment about Sheens' 'Watershed Year' comment. I believe he said it at the end of 2008, in regards to 2009\. But I also believe that there is a missing part of that quote- didn't he say 2010 was 'the year'? Looking at the way the youngsters are playing- i can believe that.

There is no doubt that there has been something of a player cleanout over the last couple of seasons- Hodgson, Harrison, Halatau, Morris, Collis, Fulton, Fitzhenry etc. There might be a couple more yet. there's also plenty of critics in regards to the signings for next season, but really, Mitch Brown, Geoff Daniela, Taumata & Toupou are all low risk/high reward signings. The real 'new signings' will be guys like Shirnack, Lui, O'Dwyer & the other youngsters coming up from the U20's. Already Ayshford has become a regular, and looks the goods too.

Much of 2010 could rest on the shoulders of one man- someone not mentioned on this thread yet, but a guy that could be 'the difference maker' that the Tigers desperatly need- Dane Laurie.

IF Tim Sheens can get Laurie playing that wrecking ball, damaging forward role, I believe the Tigers have the perfect balance- hard workers up front, impact forwards & dynamic backs.

If they can somehow sneak Lote into the squad too....

If Tim Sheens can't get these guys worked into the squad next season, then I believe he'll have run his course. That being said, Sheens is actually pretty good at bringing guys into the line-up at the right time.

While the season has ended with a thud- the thud came about on the back of two losses while the Tigers played committed, hungry football. A far cry from the trash we were subjected to against Souths at Leichardt late last year.

It's also time for Sheens to mentor a young up-and-coming coach- his eventual replacement. Simmons will never get a starting gig again. If Sheens wants Royce around- fair enough, but not as his #2\. Could Mark O'Neil be an option?

Unlike the beginning of the 2009 season, I'm looking forward to 2010\. I think that the Tigers might give it a fair old shake next season.

Hey Sheens, i know you read this

ya reckon ? that would really cheer him up.

I reckon he'd take about as much joy from reading this forum as Della Bosca would from reading todays papers

Sorry Fonz. You have made some shocking decisions. Please resign now!! Who supports this bloke?? Shocking selections!! 1 Finals appearance in 7 years with him as coach.

To those who want to defend him, Please relpy to this thread. Lets dance, and I will blow you all away.

I'm disappointed that we haven't made the semis again but at the end of the day I'm just happy that we are a competitive team that is well respected and plays a great brand of footy.

I don't mind if Sheens stays for another year….by the way you haven't blown anyone way yet tough guy. Will I be the first?

BB are you the goose you seem or is it just a front. "Blow you all away"..............please.

Well Chunk, if that makes you happy then I am speechless my friend. If not winning more games than you lose for the last 4 seasons is acceptable to you, if shunning quality players in reserve grade is acceptable to you, if peersisting with non performers in 1st grade for YEARS is acceptable to you, then it is YOU my friend who have blown ME away.
:unamused:

Statistically speaking, an NRL team should win the comp every 16years or so based on each teams desire to win the premiership.

The Tigers did it 4years ago. Fantastic wasnt it?

Based on the way the team played this year, the juniors coming through in the Toyota Cup team that will join the NRL squad next year, the removal of dead wood players and the new signings joining, the question is this: Are the Tigers a reaslistic chance of winning the comp next year?

I know the answer and that's why Mr BB that I like to dance because good times will eventually come around once again, statistically ahead of schedule and with the Fonz at the helm going "heyyyyyyyyy" and a thumbs up salute to those that keep the faith.

Mr BB, you need to heed the message of Guns n Roses…."all you need is patience."

Yeah i reckon he is on here now with Roycie having a laugh at all of us after naming Morris as the halfback for this friday.

I love thi type of topic… people always someone needs to get sacked or whatever but until you can come up with a better options that are not totally inexperienced at top level league.... there is no point really

2010 looks promising.

There is a good crop of juniors coming through in the Toyota Cup squad, predominately back and front rowers who will form part of the Top 25 squad next year.

Sheens is a master at spotting and developing juniors. History has proven that.

After winning in 2005 and with salary cap restictions, realistically, a team has a 2-3 year window of opportunity to win a couple of titles or get close to winning. 2006 was a disaster with regard to injuries and once a few of the old heads had retired or money was thrown at the promising juniors, the majority of the premiership squad moved on.

He has rebuilt a squad since then, with this year looking promising until, once again, the injury and refereeing gods decided that this year was not to be the Year of the Tiger.

Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder.

You're right dimitri… Sheens does have a good track record of developing great juniors, only to have them poached by other clubs... Tigers won the 2005 GF with a team of proven nobodies (fitzy, buckets, skando,) liabilties (prince,) never was's (hodgo, payten, elford & galea
,) and kids... and we did it well under the cap.

I'm hoping Sheens does bring out the best in the boys in 2010\. I've got my fingers and toes crossed. I love this club and it breaks my heart to watch them brimming with talent and still miss out. Personally, if we pinch the title next year, I'd be happy to have Sheens on as long as he can coach if it means we can win a title every 5 years...

I'd be happy to keep him on if we win the comp as well - can't see who wouldn't be.

He has though butchered our chances with Croonky & some other selections over the last couple of years.
