Gee some of you like to stick the boot in. Give the young fellow a chance, obviously IC and our recruitment staff believe he has something to offer. With the reduction in interchanges, having props who play long minutes may be advantageous.

I haven't been impressed with what I've seen from him this year in reserves. However, his junior rep honours can't be ignored:

Rep. Honours: NSW U/20's (2015-16), NSW U/18's (2013), NSW U/16's (2012)

And he was NYC team of the year in 2016 alongside Twal and Ponga.

Most players with rep honours like that end up being good first graders at a minimum. I'd give him a chance before calling him a plodder.

That is a fair point.

The question then remains why hasnt he gone on with it when others have. If Ivan can tap into that issue then we might have a good low coast recruit on our hands.

You can see his stats on this page. If correct he averages 73 metres in around 36 minutes of game time and tackle efficiency of 92 percent.

It's not as though he's a 'superstar' signing.
He doesn't sound as bad as some of the doomsayers make out.
Only young for a prop and not on much coin… welcome aboard.

Phil Gould tweeted he needs to play NRL now and was blocked by Panthers strong pack.
They have Tamou, RCG, Merrin, Fisher Harris, CHN, Yeo, Kikau and others. Have a feeling this will be another Twal like signing.
Tigers have a pretty good track record buying young players over the last few years: Twal, Aloai, JAC, Austin.

He may be a strategic purchase. Going of Gus’ comments, with the supposed reduced interchange, a prop who can play big minutes will be valuable.

The critics seem to have watched a lot of the Panthers reserve grade side.

Where? Why?

beacuase we have a few here who have a very big soft spot for the Riff boys 😕

So they actually go and watch Penriths reserve grade.

Soft spot indeed.

:unamused:

Isn’t that Mitchell Moses’ resume

Moses didn’t make all of these teams, and last time I checked he was playing first grade.

My opinion so far is Cleary gets pretty good mileage out of most of his recruits / promotions, especially the unheralded ones, so I'll continue to back him on these backup-type signings.

Of course Gould isn't going to come out and say we're glad we got rid of some deadwood…

A lot of fluff from Gus. Who says he can play big mins? Averages 30-38 mins for Panthers in ISP. Felise played far far more than that. Work rate? 6 hitups a game? Defence? 20 tackles? There's no evidence to backup any of his comments.

Hopefully he can regather his form from his junior days and get rid of his 'marshmallow' reputation from the Panthers trainers.
