Once bitten, twice shy: Moltzen staying for three more years

I will be absolutely filthy if Tedesco suffers because of this. He better not be stuck in BRET or NYC with Moltzen at 1 next year.

Good Signing,

We all know he has tons of potential and can play in many positions.

We've been waiting 5 years for him to reach this potential… Enough chances IMO

Im very happy. I think he is an excellent player, I just hope they put him in a spot and leave him there, whatever spot it is!
Once he stays in a spot for 4 or 5 weeks he has put together strong performances from that point on.

I never got why he cops so much flak on here, this site (and now the dragons) is the only place i hear it, he is highly regarded in most circles I travel in.

I would of prefered Liam Foran a signing over masada iosefa and moltzen he can play hooker and in the halves…

God help us.

Early in Marshall's career, going from injury after injury, his form and confidence down, many thought he'd never regain his touch again, some where ready to see the back of him, lucky he stayed. Same will be said with Moltzen in years to come.

Please tell me you didn't just compare Benji Marshall with Tim Moltzen? :crazy

the only thing they have in common is being inconsistant imo
its time to move on from guys like moltzen and get some better players in

Why would you give him three years when you don't even know what position he will play next year (presuming Tedesco bounces back ok)?

I'm with you Helmsey. I don't think he is going to have a starting spot unless Siro and Anasta both play 2nd row… which I can't see happening.

Great utility off the bench. But he is too good for that. Brilliant replacement for any halves/FB injuries throughout the year (like he is currently).

I just hope we don't lose Tedessco or Siro over this.

Teddy just signed for 3 years and sirro is secured too relax

No I don't agree - at best Moltzen is a good first grader - Marshall is a gifted athlete.

Because u used the word 'athlete' Moltzen is always at the front at training with Marshall leading the fitness drills and speed too.. So I guess that makes Tim a pretty great athlete too huh

I won't bag him again just yet,his form this past 6 weeks has been pretty good, but where he fits in the team I don't know,he is like our second choice fullback, second or third choice halfback, and 4th choice 5/8th next year,so maybe as a reserve.

Handy to have across the halves. I wouldn't be moving Tedesco from fullback to accommodate him though.

A little worried at the length of the deal, but it was always on the cards when he backflipped on the Dragons.

Whats done is done.

Tim has shown plenty of times that he has a wow factor, but struggled to find consistency. I just hope he proves us all wrong.

Great signing , means we will have an unprecedented level of depth in the spine , with hooker being the only place in which we lack depth

We've got good depth at hooker - Sheens just makes poor selections

Was always gonna happen after he turned his back on the Dragons.

Where he fits in I'm not sure. Hopefully 14.

Its a shame the guy most deserving of a contract (Utai) will be most probably left high and dry now. Its great to have mates in high places

I think Utai has previously been quoted as stating he will be happy to play NSW Cup and accept Match Payments if required for any NRL Games to stay… He isnt released yet and might still be around in 2013.

I just read something interesting on James Hooper's blog on the tele website. When asked if there was any news on the Tigers, Hooper said at 12:49?:

'''Moltzen still isn't signed for next season and I'm told he's going to have to take a fair pay cut to stay''

Thats interesting considering the Tele love beating their chests at how they are always the ones with the scoops and breaking news

it's a risk, however, i do think that if moltzen constantly finds himself not in the starting 13 next year, he will seek a release.. and as we all know contracts mean nothing around here..

as someone said, he CAN end up as a benji marshall, i really do believe he can. i have no doubts that he must've been upgraded because of the interest going around with ESL, raiders etc. it's a risk.

As long as he's cheap im ok with it as a backup across the park, but he isnt good ewnough to be in the top 13\. we have juniors that have so much more potential than him, would be a shame to see him stay and the juniors get bored and leave!

I'd like seeing him train and start next year at 5/8, with tedesco at fullback, anasta in the backrow and siro on the bench. Our overall speed would increase dramatically with lote and possibly utai gone (although I think utai deserves a contract)
