Once bitten, twice shy: Moltzen staying for three more years

If he is resigned, he will be at best decent back up for halves & fulback and possibly first choice no14\. If he is signed on tis basis and at a comensurate rate of pay (Reddy money), well fair enough.

As long as he's cheap im ok with it as a backup across the park, but **he isnt good ewnough to be in the top 13.** we have juniors that have so much more potential than him, would be a shame to see him stay and the juniors get bored and leave!

He's already in the top 13.
He is an established firstgrader - the juniors with potential may not even make first grade or have the ability to stay there.
Everbody carries on like Tedesco is Billy Slater and will be our fullback for the next ten years after playing less than one half of first grade.
Same with young Sironen - a few ok games and he's a guaranteed starter in first grade for life.
I hope they (and some of our other young guys who look the goods) do progress to long first grade careers with us - but at present it's all pipe dreams.
Moltzen was our first choice half and would still be there if not for the unfortunate injury to Tedesco.
He is the only player we have got who can slot into any position in the backline and one of the very few players we have with any real speed.
Plus he knows how to score tries.
Not too many of our juniors have the potential to match that.

This is the reason why the Tigers are many many years away from winning another premiership just can't believe this one a joke really. Some one please tell me his starting position next year , because I don't see one

Can you tell me anyone in our teams starting position next year?
Sheens moves everyone around so much you wouldn't bet on anyone staying in the same spot all year.

I just read something interesting on James Hooper's blog on the tele website. When asked if there was any news on the Tigers, Hooper said at 12:49?:

'''Moltzen still isn't signed for next season and I'm told he's going to have to take a fair pay cut to stay''

Thats interesting considering the Tele love beating their chests at how they are always the ones with the scoops and breaking news

A pay cut was always likely given his some of his performances this year, plus he wanted to stay so it gives the Tigers a bit more bargaining power.

Aaron Woods and Keith Galloway starting props….and that's it.

Farah at hooker, Blair in the second row, Larwrence in the centres. Theres quite a few actually

I agree if you list the best 13 available and all fit he doesn't get a start, but this is the most brutal sport there is and it's ridiculous to think we'll have our best 17 on the park for more than a few games a year at best. No team does.

I don't know where he'll start, if at all, but I can bet that if he simply remains injury free, he'll start more matches on the field than on the bench.

We haven't had our best backline all fit for one single game this year what makes anyone think that will be different next year -tedesco has played half a game and will be coming back from a major injury, Sironen has had 2 injuries just this yr , benji has had a fit year but that is never guaranteed. Moltzen is our leading try scorer and line breaks seems a really smart signing . Plus we have no halves depth behind Marshall and Siro, no fullback depth behind tedesco ( yes beau but he can only play 1 position at a time)

I would rather support a team with young confident juniors like Nofoaluma, Tedesco and Sironen with "potential" then a 77 game first grader who always looks like its his debut game.

What do people see in this bloke? Sooner or later you have to turn potential into results

Hardly a good look rewarding Benjis best mate with a long term contract. Based on what?

He's 23 how doesn't he have room to improve?
I'd take his 1st grade experience (including 2 years of finals footy) over a NYC player any day. Earlier in the season aside he's in good form now and if you can't see it then I don't know what you've been watching ><

If we sign him , where will he play ??

He is no good defensively in the centres

He does nothing at half back when he plays there

Tedesco will \should be first choice fullback

I detest the fact that he only turns up for half a dozen games each year, usually near contract negotiation time, plus the fact that at times he doesnt put his body on the line, but…the kids a proven tryscorer with genuine speed ,which we dont have a lot of.
Cant help but think that with an established position under the rite coaching structure he could be a vey good 1st grader.
Both of which may possibly happen in the 3 year term of his contract, but with WT you never know..?

12 months ago we didnt want him.
A year later we offer him 3 years.

They say you need your front office working
effectively to be a success on the field.

We are a basket case!!

Im no defender of Moltzen, believe me,but 12 months ago he hadnt shown us what he was capable of in our run into the semis. He was impressive.
having said that,to sign someone for 3 years whose form is so erratic doesnt make a lot of sense..what if we never see that again in were stuck with himplaying reserves?

I wonder how much influence benji had in this decision?

I think 8 try's and 7 line breaks this year had more to do with the decision
