One love: Moltzen in position to seal spot

IMO Moltzen needs to be 7\. He runs off Benji well and is a dangerous runner but wasn't given enough time to form the combination we so desperately need. May be if Tedesco would have not got injured he would have stayed at 7, who knows. I would leave Beau where he is on the wing he is really good there I'd put Humble or Reddy at Fullback.

Moltzen is not a good enough quality fullback in the NRL.

He needs to be in the 7 jumper. He loves running off Benji when they are in the halves. Plus he looks far more comfortable and dangerous there.

At fullback he looks uneasy and scared, especially when fielding kicks. His catching technique of bombs is abysmal.

I'd much Rather Beau Ryan at fullback, he looks more confident and is almost a natural there.

X 2

I'd be surprised if those were Moltzen's thoughts, more like a carefully constructed press release conjured up by the Media boys.

His body language screams 'get me outta here' every time a ball comes his way, his kick returns are not threatening and he's often found wanting positionally.

For God's sake get him up in the line where he belongs, good for him, good for Marshall

I wonder if Sheens really did 'promise' him first shot at the jersey.

What does first shot mean anyway? He gets to train in that position for most the pre-season? He gets first crack in the trials? He gets to play round 1?

It may mean tim moltzen will be playing full back for the next 3 years for the tigers (presuming Tim Sheens is coaching for those 3 years) and we can look forward to watching Tedesco go around with another club in 2014 after being granted a release?

Why do people keep saying he needs to be at 7 to run off Benji?? since when does a halfback run off a 5/8?? If you want him to run off Marshall he has to play fullback. The fact he's not doing atm shows he's not doing his job

But why can't he do it from the back? support play is a more important attribute to have as a fullback opposed to a halfback

Go and watch Moltzen's support play of Benji when at 7 compared to when he's fullback.

You'll see what we mean.

Moltzen sure as hell isn't a halfback, he has no kicking game and minimal organisational skills. He's a handy 14 or a 6.

He doesnt involve himself enough…..#1 is now a 2nd 5/8.....he needs to get involved in our own half, do some of the hard yakka....not just when we are in the 30m zone and a scoring opportunity is good odds

One thing is for sure, if we lose a kid that was originally earmarked as the future fullback of the club because we kept a hold of a player we initially had no intention of retaining who is average at best in that position, I won't be a happy camper, and I dare say I won't be on my Pat…

Sounds as though Timmy needs to be loved a lot. Lacking confidence seems to be a problem for him

4:19 moltzen will never do that…..TEDESCO MUST BE NO.1

 You think he has never caught a bomb?
And … if he was lacking confidence I hope he wouldn't look on his teams 'supporters ' site for any actual support. :unamused:

I wouldn't read too much into this. Saying he has first shot and it's his position to lose just means whoever is playing better will get the spot. Tedesco has only played 30 mins of first grade and he has to re- prove himself. If he comes back strong he'll get the spot. If tedesco is sooky enough to seek a release on the back of 30 mins and returning from a serious knee injury ( highly unlikely), then he hasn't got the temperament you want from a long term player anyway.

My mail is that Tedesco will definitely be right for round one and is already back training.

And he WILL be playing fullback ahead of Moltzen, without a doubt.

Oh good … can you tell us tonights winning Lotto numbers as well. :unamused:

I really like Moltzen for his utility value. But he is definitely not a first-choice fullback.

Rating him compared to the rest of the fullbacks in the comp (below) - he probably comes in dead last (that's my opinion). Moltz is a great player to have in our arsenal but Tedesco should certainly be given the first shot at FB next year.
