One love: Moltzen in position to seal spot

IMO Moltzen needs to be 7\. He runs off Benji well and is a dangerous runner but wasn't given enough time to form the combination we so desperately need. May be if Tedesco would have not got injured he would have stayed at 7, who knows. I would leave Beau where he is on the wing he is really good there I'd put Humble or Reddy at Fullback.

Humble and Reddy are gone! If Moltzen is so good running off Benji where has it been? At fullback he has the perfect opportunity and it barely happens. A decent half needs to be able to steer a team around the park and be able to kick… both of which are way out of Timmy's reach. Tim's future in the team with all players fit and playing at their max is either partnering Lawrence in the centres or wearing the 14.

If he had heart…

Should we send him to see the Wonderful Wizard of Oz , he could possibly help him with a heart ??

I'll get him a one-way ticket… who's paying for the return?

I think that's how Moltzen tries to take the high ball… close your eyes, click your heels three times and pray.

Good comment coming from the scarecrow… :crazy

No offence Ck, but are you a chick? not trying to to be smart, just trying to get some idea of the fixation you have towards this guy. I know some of the ladies think he's easy on the eye, does that have anything to do with why you defend him to the hilt?

The interesting thing is the difference in Moltzens leap between attacking bombs and when he is defending them.

He seems to have a greater willingness to jump high in attack where in defence I have seen Utai jump higher.

Don't have a fixation with him Gunner , just with stupid comments.
I have said on numerous occassions I don't think he should be at fullback - and rarely have I ever come out and said how wonderfully he's played.
In a pecking order of my favourites in the team he wouldn't make the top 10.
Regardless of that I get sick of keyboard warriors making ridiculous claims like he has no heart .
People seem to make a game of picking on him whether justified or not.
The guy has been bashed rotten a few times this year and gotten up and come back for more.
The other irritating thing is the never ending refrences to his living with Marshall - when nobody seems to mock Tuiaki for being their other flatmate( I don't think any of them still share together now - but may be wrong)
If people don't like the way he plays attack him all you like - that's fine.
When some people who would probly crap themselves in any physical confrontation question the ticker of a first grade footballer it fires me up.
I was one of Lui's biggest critics last year but based my criticism on his game - not the person.
Hope that clears it up for you Gunner - and I am a 115kg , ugly , heterosexual male with 4 kids and the most stunning missus you could want .
Definately no chick.

Moltzen is a 6 IMO, a running 6 and if Benji is going to stay at 7 then Moltz should partner him at 6\. Look at the trys he scored from scrums earlier this year, his strength is running the ball. If we sign Luke Lewis then Sirro to replace Ayshford in the centers, if we dont get Lewis then Sirro to the backrow as a ball playing 13 or a hard running second rower in the Dwyer mould

**Players under 85kgs don't go high with a grabbing tackling style.** Fullbacks generally go low/mid-section when defending.

And please, that jump was about half a foot off the ground. I jump higher than that getting the flour off the top shelf at home.

Moltzen's reliance on his wingers is far more than nearly all other fullbacks.

I understand why, because he's not comfortable with the role, and thats understandable.

The coach should be seeing this more clearly and much sooner than all of though, instead of persisting with it, which invariable shatters his confidence and performance

Think you'll find he's well over 85kg - and if you think players around that weight don't go with high grabbing style tackles you haven't been watching Marshall lately.
I am with you on this though - fullback is not the best spot for him.
He obviously has to say he's happy to play wherever the coach puts him - but that doesn't necessarily mean he likes it.

Marshall is defending on a different side when at halfback than he does at five-eighth.

It's pretty obvious watching him that he favours one shoulder. He hides the other well when defending at 6\. When at 7 he has back rowers running at it which is why he is a turnstile.

I even have stats to back up the theory that he defends worse at 7 then he does at 6\. I will dig them out tonight (they are at home)

If Moltzen is over 85kgs then someone's scales are rooted.

On the WT website in players bios it lists his weight as over 85kg…

Beau would be very close to 90kg, Benji thinks he's around 91 if that's an indicator. Weight isn't the easiest thing to judge from a visual perspective.

I just can't see how, he doesn't look to be that much bigger, if at all, than Beau Ryan.

Ryan is listed at 88kg. They're both around 6 feet tall, so those listed weights are very realistic given their height.

moltzen is a lot taller than most people think - in person ive met the guy, and despite me standing an imposing 170cm Tall, he was at least half a head taller than me, and almost as tall as Blake Ayshford.
