Opinions on Best Way Forward

I would happily wear an entirely black or white or variations thereof jersey as long as the team was wests tigers...thats coming from an ex balmain supporter. The hang up ppl have about the colours is ridiculous. Only thing the orange has going for it is its distinctive...maybe a good away jersey colour. The whole idea that it has to be the colour of the mascot is a non argument.
Why not employ an independent marketing firm to decide and make a coherent brand? We need to start doing things WT first based on data, facts, fan alignment and brand alignment.

If you were to start a new Tigers team today, 100% of people would use black, orange and white which are the exact colours on a tiger. We get held back by this bullshit.

1. Continued pressure on our shareholders to improve governance and stability off-field
2. Staunch fan support of our football department to ensure the ongoing viability of the brand
3. Celebration of our heritage but avoidance of unhelpful divisive arguments.
4. A recognition that Wests have been our primary financial backer while the other joint venture partner essentially failed.
5. strategic alignment to the South-West and ultimately one home ground in that area.
6. Urgent need to install a GM or head of football with a proven record.

That all efforts from everybody in an organization that funnels into the WestsTigers, do their optimum ,to turn the place into a juggernaut
At least win more than we loose ,will go a long way

I agree, there are various reasons you select color, the obvious one is the heritage and emblem, however there are also considerations about generational tastes, how sponsors logos look and align. My main point is I honestly don't care, as long as it looks good and they are called the Wests Tigers...the rest is up to the creatives.
I was in the roarstore last week with my eldest daughter who is a bit of a fashion snob and not so keen on rugby league. I have been agitating for a new Jersey or training shirt as a chrissie present, so she made me try on multiple types of gear and color variations....she settled on a plain black polo (media) shirt...I had to explain to her that there is no way i would wear most of these colors and patterns on anything other than a Tigers Jersey/shirt so it is a different mindset you have when choosing NRL merch...i think she got it in the end...so I'm hoping Santa delivers the white training shirt with the tigers head on the front or either of the jerseys.

There you go again using that disgusting "independent" word.

You should know by now that this will get us nowhere.

Really fitting that this thread has been brought back with the closure of the others as I truly just had a video suggestion on YouTube and it was the news reports from the day that both Balmain and Western Suburbs members voted at Balmain Leagues and Campbelltown on the merger of two 90+ year old clubs. So I gave it a watch.

So much heartbreak from the long time supporters, but so much understanding and hope for the future, knowing it was the right move.

The total combined vote was 549 for to 106 against. But more interestingly it was 295 to 99 on the Balmain side and 254 to just 7 for Western Suburbs.

It is so sad looking at that, that even though the numbers are so low when you think of voting members, but 655 people got to make a decision about the future of the two clubs to become one and move forward into the future, and yet over 25 years later, it is just a group of just 7 who make all the decisions for better, or more often than not worse, and the true fans and members have absolutely no say at all.

None of this is pointed at either Balmain or Western Suburbs individually, but it really just shows how much has been lost, and perhaps why the club has not seen as much success in the time we have existed. No longer the voice of the fans and members, but just of those who look for power over anything else.

So the best way forward? Back to the days that the fans and members really have a voice and have some say about the club, be it the makeup of the board, or those who choose the board. Ownership or not, the real voice of the club is the fans and members and their voices need to be heard, just like in 1999.

I was reading a book about the Souths protests.

Ok, some will hate the Rabbitohs, some will like them here. No one is going to deny their fans have passion.

Look I would like to go back to member controlled clubs. We have far more stake in it. It won't happen, when players get Million dollar contracts, it just won't happen.

Yet, we could get a stack more representation. A board member or two elected by us, Consultation and polling... I really wish the board would get us involved.

Im not that interested in member voted positions, whoever is voted on is on a hiding to nothing as they are there to represent the fans but have no ability to really enact change as they are in the minority.

What I would like to see is independent directors appointed through an outside recruitment agency based of a skills matrix.

Just like we had for the independents before the HBG blew it all up. That is how you get high calibre people onto your board.
