That's an interesting idea but too much typing. I'd also like to see everyone's wish list of available players for next year now that a bit of rookie form has been revealed. Not rumours but possible signings like Tex Hot, Matt Burton etc.

If Brooks was in the storm or Broncos system he would be flying and close to origin put him in the big Parra team and he plays better than Moses. He is a solid half certainly better than Ben Hunt

No he wouldn't. He's hopeless. You could have Wally Lewis next to him and he would still battle.

You sure about that? Everyone said Moses was hopeless too. Don’t underestimate how flawed our system is compared to some other clubs

I agree with everything you say apart from Brooks. He is useless and has been since he unfortunately cemented his spot in this side. Marshall battles at times but I would have kept him instead of Brooks this week.
I have been saying for years that he will never get better and this is the reason he accepted the first offer years ago. The sooner we can offload him the better. He is and has always been an average half back at best. How he got the Dally M half back of the year beggars belief.

Hate to say it but I kinda agree, Amazed on how he got that dally m as well. And also agree about brooks being dropped instead of marshall but for some reason we will never drop him and its infuriating

For mine, Garner and Mikeale haven't improved, we need more from them.

Yes except Boyd actually played really well for most of his career, Mbye...not so much.

Brooks is a good player. However, every so often his old, bad habits creep back in. For example, in 2018, he seemed to have solved his short kicking game. Forced the second most line-drop outs that season IIRC. Fast forward to this season, and his lead boot is back. Sometimes he doesn't kick it enough, others he boots the hell out of it, and sometimes straight into a defender's legs.

It's ingrained in our culture. Almost every one of our players seems to suffer from this problem. The only ones I've observed buck the trend (who have been with us for at least more than one season) of falling back into bad habits are Alex Twal and Josh Aloiai. When the going gets tough, all the others regress back to their former mistake-ridden selves.

Rating all of those players that way (whether we all agree exactly, or not) should bring us back to earth. It certainly makes me remember where we actually are at in this phase of what I would call the "Madge era". Re-shaping the Wests Tigers from where we were after Ivan was always going to be a long haul. As I have said before, we are a 'work in progress' and still have some roster reworking to do. Our pack is young and inexperienced and needs to add some dimensions such as leadership, unity, mongrel, ball playing etc. Our outside backs are average and changes are needed. Our current FB is still learning to play the position. We have little quality depth in the halves, and 2 of our 3 current contenders are past their best.
All in all - if we were to win more than half our games we will have done pretty well this season.

That's another reason why he won't be moved. Next year I'd like us to chase a quality fullback and move Doueihi to six.

He already is that..constantly in the top 3 halves for running metres in the NRL..past 5 seasons

For ex he ran for over 100m against the Titans the closest from any other game was about 50 for halves..the only forward that ran more than Brooks in our team on the weekend was Aloiai with 114m..says a lot..

Cleary went about the rebuild the wrong way. Our roster should have been younger rep players with experienced hard heads on short term deals. Our recruitment of players young looking for opportunities has actually been solid. Aloai, Twal, Matterson, Garner, Talau, Grant, Luciano.

Where we completely messed up was older veterans on big deals Reynolds, Packer, Matulino, Mbye. We got some value out of Corey but missed with Jennings. BJ Leilua was subsidised and can be damaging so I understand the risk but it’s up in the air.

Newcastle saved the big money for Pearce, Klemmer, Frizell and Ponga. That’s where we have failed.
