Origin 1 *Live thread..

QLD easily the better side yet were lucky to win in the end.

They are really struggling to score against NSW defence.

Mitchel Pierce… what a freaken lemon. I cannot believe he is a well payed professional, yet couldnt feed Hodkinson for a drop goal. Someone needs to shank Jnr incase he lets another sprog loose to blight the state.

Woods 14 runs 146m 41 tackles 0 missed…

Farah 5 runs 46m 62 tackles 0 missed...

Qld had all the ball win by 1 well done,,,bring on game 2...

Farah and Pearce lost that with no set play for field goal… Twice

Rabs called cronk the forgotten Man from last year..... It seems only the NSW media forgot him.

Well played Qld (as hard as that was to say)

That was Aaron's best game in Origin.

Stage 1 to the Legends… Might go to Melbourne to watch us lift our trophy!

People laugh at QLD being dad's army, but they can't be any worse than some of the plodders in this NSW side. Fifita and Hoppa circa 2015 are not Origin players. I wouldn't even have Hoppa in a City-Country game. Most ineffective player in the comp.

I tend to agree, Brett Morris is 100x the winger Hoppa is, and Fifita made one decent run all game.

Until NSW get a good halves pairing they will push it up hill…. Again leadership was the down fall where was it when the pump was on ,field goal was to have and nothing. NSW halves were ok but that is the problem there just OK.

The only decent winger on the field was Chambers - the other three were woeful. In the centres only Hodges and Morris would be happy with their games. NSW halves were non existent and Fafita looked about 10kgs overweight. The closeness of the score kept the game interesting but overall it wasn't a great origin match.

Woodsie and Farah were unreal.

That filth Hodges…..dumped Farah on his head and injured him and he played on with one arm.

I would pay 20k to see someone smash that filth in the face!

I'd do it for free !

Jennings and tupou had shockers , and hopoate is about as effective as pissing into the wind .

Hopefully he'll be back for game two.

Really there was nothing in it, these teams are so evenly matched now - the game could've gone either way. I hope NSW stick with the forward pack they chose for this game, the young guys will be better for the run. I would really hate to see Gallen and Bird introduced back in, they'd only stifle the attack again with their perpetual one out running.

Despite the loss, I think NSW looked a lot fresher in the forwards - Tamou, Woods, Klemmer, Scott and Jackson were great and Dugan was terrific at the back.

Refs are as per usual :frowning: Very non consistent, shoulder charge on Dougan and lifting tackle on Farah and no penalty :frowning:
Woods was very good. Farah as usual rocks and diamonds, player of his experience must direct the play to field goal :frowning: That decision at the end cost NSW the game :frowning:
Hopefully his injury is not serious.

Morris had no right to get near that ball when he scored, he just wanted it more than Darius (not hard I guess). He's the guy who no matter what kind of form he is in, he will not let you down at Origin level. I agree about the rest of the Blues 3/4 line, woeful. Dugan had a mixed night, but was probably a pass overall. Once Woods and Tamou came off they never got the momentum back, both of them were outstanding in the opening half hour.

Farah is all courage these days, his ability has diminished significantly for mine. And his football smarts have deserted him. Last year of origin for him.

True but you could say the same about Smith - neither of them have the impact they had a few years ago. The halves - now there is a different story - Cronk and Thurston were outstanding and look as though they could play at this level for another few years.

If NSW play like they did tonight Qld will win game two by 30.
