Origin 2023

Apparently it was the Penrith boys who wanted him, and of course Fittler does whatever Nathan wants.
The Penrith connection is what's costing NSW. That along with Tedesco. There is no creativity there at all. They are machine like at club level, but Origin is a different game.

NSW won't win until Fittler, Alexander, Luai, Crichton and Yeo are gone.

Cleary is slow and boring, at this level he needs X factor at 1 and 6, otherwise he is useless.

Latrell has to play 1, with Hynes or even Walker at 6.

Yeo plays too sideways and is easily the most overrated forward the game has seen in the past 20 years.

Fittlers obsession with Penrith will cost him his coaching career and I couldn't be happier. I hate the bloke.
What you're saying makes sense. Not a fan of Fittler myself and I can't see why he's coaching. A 43% winning record at NRL level says it all. I reckon he's cost NSW at least one series wins and we're coming up on two. No disrespect to Queensland but we're losing games we should be winning. This is not a great Queensland side.

I agree with you

Is this Queensland side even more worse then the "the worst Queensland side ever" that won the series in 2020? 🤭

New coach needed, one who will pick the best centre to play centre, the best winger to play wing, best 1 to play 1 and so on Teddy has not been going that well at East this year, and last night was one of the worst games ive seen him play.

Lol you have taken this quite hard.
The superior NSW backline was nullified through consistent swarming defence and beaten by clever ballplaying and speed.
The huge NSW forward pack was contained and eventually beaten by a workhorse pack who never gave up despite having their plans thrown into disarray through injury and the worst sin binning in the code’s history.
NSW were gifted more than their fair share of cheap territory through handling errors and penalties yet could only score the 1 legitimate try through organised ballplaying.
QLD ran harder, tackled harder and kicked further. They didn’t panic and they kept attacking the NSW edges. Slater outcoached Fittler, whose only plan was to bomb our inexperienced back 3. The grit of the boys to push on under fatigue and run away with the win despite many of them playing out of position was also commendable.
It was a very good win under the circumstances.
You’re kidding if you think NSW had a superior backline. I’d take QLDs every day of the week. Teddy and turbo are worn out, no Latrell.

I got QLD at 2.25 on Friday last week. Easy money.

I'll treat your post and your question as a serious one although I suspect you're being a dope. Queensland won last night and deserved to win because they took their chances and we let them. My comment that this is not a great Queensland side simply means that it doesn't match (yet) the great sides of the past that included players like Langer, Slater, Smith, Lockyer etc. If you think differently, more power to you.

The game was lost on the field, but the loss started with the selections.
The problem NSW have had for the last 5 years is the investment in a coach who is a fruit loop. What we need is a Gallen, Harrigan or Johns with at least half a brain and to make selections based on form.
How the TPJ was selected is beyond me (Gould?)
Turbo over Graham.
Teddy on form - I get that he is the captain but .... there are better options
I get the Luai selection for bringing clubland combinations to the table, but if you do that you can't carry Hynes just because he is playing well. If he is a utility back he needs to know how to play across the park. That stupidity in Defence last night makes it clear that he doesn't.
On another note why are we even carrying a reserve back at this level? Unless they are capable of also playing in the middle somewhere it is a waste.
A two hooker rotation is a must at that level; Api did well but Cook late in both halves could have been a game changer.
As I said - the game was lost on the field but it definitely started with the selections.

All the talk all week was NSW by how much….
I find it funny how many have come out of the woodwork to slam selections after the fact. Not many were concerned even a day ago.

Cleary and Luai were absolutely trash last night Cleary’s kicking was no better than Brooks, he’s a myth at origin level. Hynes on form should have always been the 6. TPJ I didn’t get it when he was selected and it proved the wrong choice he was poor like he always is, big Stef or Klemmer would provide much more.
Thought Api had a decent game gave perfect service that the backs did nothing with. Also how do you get stripped for numbers when you’ve got a man advantage at this level is beyond me, also I reckon Teddy should put the rep cue in the rack he’s not elite level anymore and it showed.

There have been plenty of discussions about selections in NSW - and there have been for years.

I don't know how Freddy got, or keeps the job. He is a shocker and his selections are as left field as his views on deodorant.

Just because it hasn't been typed into the WTF doesn't mean it didn't happen. This is a forum about WT not the sole source of footy discussion writ large.

Not sure who you were listening to. There was plenty of talk about the selections leading up to and after the release of the NSW side whilst the typical QLD underdog narrative is still being pumped even now lol.

Slater was ridiculed for picking Hammer and Walsh over Gagai and Ponga. Gutsy decision that I think was a massive reason why QLD won. Hammer was on fire.
Slater is a very smart coach and craps all over Fittler.
Can I just say I think the QLD coaching team of Slater, Smith, Thurston, Hannay and Lockyer are superior to NSW and identify opportunities collectively.
Lot of Origin brainpower there.

NSW Backline contained 73 caps, QLD Backline contained 49 with four of them having less than 5 games.
