It's The Pioneer Tavern (The Pio, for those of us who grew up there). No he didn’t but certainly won a few bouts off it ( especially a memorable one at an old pub in Mulgoa Road heading away from Leagues Club). He and his brother in law Geyer were a double act!!
I don’t think it’s there any more and for the life of me can’t remember its name.
Thanks Susie ! That’s the one, it’s gone now right ?It's The Pioneer Tavern (The Pio, for those of us who grew up there).
Actually, just looking at a map and see Pioneer Tavern in Parker Street, not Mulgoa Road so maybe not the same. Thanks Susie ! That’s the one, it’s gone now right ?
I don't think so ... but it's been a while since I visitedThanks Susie ! That’s the one, it’s gone now right ?
Maybe it was called Mulgoa Tavern ?I don't think so ... but it's been a while since I visited
The Pio is on The Northern Road. Are you thinking of The Grey Gums on Mulgoa Rd? It's set back from the road and in the 70s and 80s it felt like it was in the middle of nowhere!Maybe it was called Mulgoa Tavern ?
Possibly, it was definitely on Mulgoa Road so Grey Gums could be it.The Pio is on The Northern Road. Are you thinking of The Grey Gums on Mulgoa Rd? It's set back from the road and in the 70s and 80s it felt like it was in the middle of nowhere!
