Our Defence is Hopeless

I'm somewhat with Milky here. Won't call the defence hopeless, but still cause for some concern.

It's a work in progress, but if we are in the hunt at the business end of the year, we can't be the team that concedes back to back weak tries. Nor the team that lets in the speculators, that is now half-time siren tries in consecutive weeks.

As has been said, it is our inability to adjust to an injury that is our worst area. Players out of position do a very ordinary job of marking up, the opposition push straight to that side and score - Warriors did it several times last week, Manly x 2 today, Souths x 2 prior.

With respect I will point out two games this season where clubs have lost fullbacks

Manly v Melbourne game Manly lead 20-0 and Stewart does his hammy and they get rolled 23-22 Manly even had a capable back up in Hiku on the wing but couldn't cover having Matai on the wing

Souths v Tigers Souths look like monsters even for the four minutes Inglis is available and then they turn to rabble v the Tigers when he comes off

Losing a fullback without a capable fullback replacement is going to be near impossible to cover in the modern game

Not arguing with you, but with the new concussion rules we have to be better at positional changes.

It won't hold water in the semis if your team goes down because the fullback got injured.
