Our Squad

I keep stating that our squad isn't bad. I think it's actually pretty good and that we have really struggled this season because our coaching staff have again been morons and our halves have been playing well below their potential. Some other players have also been out of form. The main one I think of is Simona. I reckon he is a great player but geez he has had an ordinary season.

We do need to select our best team which means JAC has to be there. Every team needs players like JAC because they can win games for you.

ET has also made a big difference to the team because he is a smart footy player with a lot of skills.

Overall though I think we have a squad that with some smart retention and recruitment and good coaching can perform over this season and the next couple of seasons.

What are your thoughts that need to happen for us to take the step up from being an ordinary team to being a quality team.

My take is:-

1\. Resign JAC or get another winger at that level of ability.
2\. We need a hooker to replace Robbie when Robbie leaves. I can't see that being Ballin but we don't need an SOO or Australian player in that position.
3\. We need to ensure we have a quality pack with some skill out there. Players like Felise are really important to resign.
4\. I'm not sure but Taylor should probably be kicked out unless he shows that he can stop stuffing us up. No more Robbie type incidents. No more dumb tactics that are designed to teach us something. We need to win games.
5\. We need to resign one of Brooks or Moses. If we sign both that is great. They will need a lot of coaching and work though.

Man of the match Talyor should be re signed asap , he has added a great deal to our team and we look better with him , JAC should also be re signed , we have plenty of big young guys coming through so I don't think we need front rowers , Brooks and Mosses signed up should see us right for a while , weather the coach is kept I'm not sure but if he is kept we need to be up around 8 or 9 on the ladder , we were good last night and yes Broncos low on players but we had Teddy out who is way better than Rankin and also Woods who is top class , Farah also is top class so we done ok

After seeing Ballin give much better dummy half service than Farah i dont see the need for Farah. We were a different team last night without his slow play.
Throw him into reserves and promote Ballin.

Early days with ET but he could be right up there with Ellis as our best signing. As I said in another post, he is a classier version of Liam Fulton and Fulton was so good for us

We still really need a good secondrower, ET is a middle third player and a good one, a good right side secondrower would be very handy.

Its funny what a difference just 1 quality player can make.

It means a better bench rotation and all of a sudden "plodders" look like decent footballers.

Note to WT - Sign 1 or 2 more QUALITY players in the next 1-2 years and we are really in business

I must say I agree with you on this. I thought Ballin was fantastic last night, and we played better as a result.
Robbie is not doing himself any favours by speaking out about the" same old matter" to the newspapers :bash He should get over it, and start playing good footy for the club he loves so much :exclamation:
How many matches have we won with him in the team this season :question:

Is he still going to be picked in the team :crazy

I thought our forwards were all over the Bronco's inexperienced forwards last night.
However Wallace stood out for me from their pack. If we can't Aquire an SOO 2nd rower off the Bronco's we may have a good shot at someone like Wallace.

i dont think our squad is good at all, probably in the worst 3 in the comp behind titans and knights.

how many players apart from woods and tedesco would actually walk straight into any top 8 team? the things in our favour is that the boys are actually close and they like playing for each other. we may be ill disciplined with errors/penalties but apart from the raiders game, these boys show up each week.

there is a high skill level but inexperience, inconsistencies and crappy defence is a big reason why these squad players together aren't improving as much.

in saying that though, this squad does have the "potential" to be top 4 in a couple of years.

i dont think we've mad many tries scored through the middle in a couple of years. the reason is our compressed defence, 4 points is 4 points, no matter where you score them. kevie and noffa aren't the best but they've been left out wide by themselves too much.

Aloai and Felise need to be developed into a Taumalolo type of players then we will be unstoppable. Also sorry to say but I cant see a future for Nofo in first grade,
