I hope I’m wrong but I’m hearing TPJ to the dogs that will be their 2nd signing within 2 weeks

Your mail is usually pretty spot on so I can't say I'm not super disappointed. Just wanted to say to everyone to keep an eye on your mental health, I know it sucks and hurts not being able to get anyone on board but it will get better.

Best way to do that is to walk away from this club and find something else to do in your life
I like the rest of us have lived in hope and been completely frustrated by this club for way to many years
And why do we do this to ourselves?
I know one thing for sure, if we don't sign at least one major Signing before the new season starts then I will most likely walk away from this game and the club
It is one of the things over the last 15 years that has continually let me down
When you love the game and the club and it pretty much consumes your life during footy season, it starts getting a bit much to take
So many wrong decisions in the running of our competition and at our club have just about ruined it for me now
I would sit down and watch every game I could in the past but now I have given up
To many games are over in the 1st 20 minutes
The top 8 are pretty much the top 8 every year or close to it
What sort of a competition is that
Not one that I wish to follow
The competition is for the top clubs only
The rest of us are fodder to make up the numbers and generate revenue for the league
Well stuff them
I won't support the Nrl unless things change quickly because I won't put up with it much longer

Must admit, I feel much the same. I hope I hang on but I can't help but feel less inspired every year. The passion doesn't seem to be there with the playing group which doesn't help my interest. Anyway, like alot say, its just a game and there's so many other things in life.

Even the State of Origin is losing its lustre with general followers.

Similar. I used to watch as many games as I could every weekend, go to a tigers game most weekends - loved it.

Now, I rarely go, record tigers games and watch if we fluke a win and couldn’t tell you the last other nrl game I watched in entirety.
I watch origin and enjoyed our “revenge” this year but the passion for League isn’t there anymore.

It’s missing due to most of the points you mention above……. I’ve almost entirely moved on to other interests…..almost.

Sometimes we need to pay a bit overs for up and coming players, look what the dogs did gave Burton a offer he couldn’t resist and no building the team around him. When Schuster wasn’t playing Frist grade I informed them to give him a offer that he won’t turned down but no we sit back and do nothing. Tigers want to go after players that have built there names and pay overs instead of identifying young talents and offer them a bit more coin. Players like Jayden Sullivan and Ezra Mam, yes you can’t offer them a contract before November 1 but you can inquire about them to there managers show them you are keen

I don’t know, I’m keen to sign TPJ for the feeling of finally not missing out on a big name signing but at the same time I’ve got this feeling that he’s not the win at all cost, effort on effort week in week out player that I think we need to fill our team with. A big part of me wants him to go elsewhere for that reason.

It may help with your doubts, if you count up the number of players we currently have who fit that very good description of yours, then compare Pangai Junior with what you have left?

I understand your point. We have very few of them, but all the more reason I wonder if buying another with X factor is wise.

So now you are not only breaking news you are advising the club?

we did try to get Schuster back in 2018 and he stayed with Manly thanks to Fulton, we were a bit unlucky there he woukd have been awesome

Blore
Laurie
Stefano
Twal
Garner
Talau
Madden
Cini
Pauga
Kepaoa
Amone
Fuatimau
Field
Ogden
Simpkin
Simpkins
Tuilagi

I think it's pretty obvious that Tigers are happy to recruit young talent from external catchments. In fact I think it's become obvious that this is their primary strategy, and the end result is the complaints by some fans that recruitment isn't "big-name" or short-term enough, that Tigers are playing too much of a long game.

Is it a fact Tigers did nothing about Schuster? I heard rumour for some time we were nosing around but Manly made him a very good offer to stay put.

I did this around the turn of the century following a solid decade of woeful performances from Balmain after the Warren Ryan era ended (also turned off by the superleague/ARL debacle).

Have only really returned to the game in recent years (and enjoyed 2005) but can only imagine what it's like supporting a successful club like the Storm/Panthers.

You wonder how missing out on players you target effects the current playing squad especially when the money is the same and both teams are struggling . It reflects on them too - not just the club/coach.

It’s disheartening to the fans, the players and the club. Hopefully we sign him because it will be Something we can build on. If we miss out it will be a big kick in the guts.

Again..

If we have tabled him and offer and lose him to the worst team in the comp, then questions have to be asked. Useless coach in Barrett yet still attracting players over a premiership winning coach.

So it's sounding like we miss out AGAIN to the dogs of all teams.. That's right the same team coming last..
We have the money so for me it must be the way the recruitment team are selling the club.. Do we invest in a specialist sales person ?

Unusually Madge is the drawcard that may get us over the line.

Have you heard that for certain Cochise? If Madge is the drawcard you’d think it would be done as Barrett appears to be the opposite

I have heard that from multiple people.

A few people on here will be disappointed to hear that. He’s been made out to be the reason why we can’t attract players.

You telling us he isn't the reason? What exactly is then? And who should take the responsibility?

We’ve had trouble attracting players since we started. Sheens was the only coach we’ve had that could do it.

When you miss finals for 10 years, players tend to not want to be part of that.

SHEENS identified players that came up with the goods that then attracted better players if you have someone who can identify talent your ahead of the game.
