Panthers version of Taylor ball...

The so called midfield bomb is used by pretty much every team these days to complete sets that finish up around the opposition 40.
**It's a sound tactic considering you lose a tackle if you kick the ball dead.** Also theoretically gives you a better chance to organise a good defensive line in a chase, given the airtime.

Which is what happened when they lost the game….. Dogs try to level it came from a 7 tkl set.... . And one of the main aspects of so called taylor ball last year that most just don't get

People will eventually point out enough instances of "Taylorball" from other clubs to realise that it's not actually Taylorball at all.

Teams definitely get hurt from 7-tackle sets, even fans know it now, they salivate when kicks go dead. Or when sides miss field goals and the opposition march all the way down to the other end.

I wish I had stats on points scored off 7-tackle sets. But my general viewship says you can very consistently march into the opposition's 20 with that extra tackle.

Of course its not Taylorball. Its Bennett Ball and he took a very average roster to a premiership with it. The Panthers play because it suits their half back. The same player who Bennett used to get the the title.

Actually, our version ( of Taylorball) was different from most teams.
It still employed the hitups, but we tweaked it a bit.
Our version was to have our kickers just kicking in the general direction of the defending winger or fullback( preferably straight down the throat of either)
Then our , or at least a couple of our plodders would amble down the field, in the hope that the defender would drop the ball.
In most cases, Putting pressure on the receiver was definetly against the rules.
There is a place for Taylorball . At times!
But as we found , if it's done badly, you may as well forgot it.

So 'Taylorball' is a merely poor kick-chase?
Most of the stick JT gets is self-inflicted, but a lot of this 'Taylorball' talk is vastly exaggerated, and this is a good example.

No it's not just a kick, it also needs the people doing the necessary hit ups to try and break the line occasionally, watch The Roosters or any of the good teams when they have to resort to it, You'll see what I mean

I think we should be blaming Bennett for this silly 7 tackle controversy…. However the simple thing that Penrith didn't do is close out a game. Be good if they did I would have 7/7 if they did

Absolutely we should be blaming Bennett. It was him and Soward who brought this ill thought out 7 tackle run upon us. Should only apply if the ball is kicked dead from outside the opposition 20.
