We had Papanhausen but everybody was to busy kissing Turdescos arse....

Tedesco ended up crapping in everyones mouth and meanwhile Paps goes and betters himself in a great system...he would of solved our fullback and goal kicking spots...ahhh well we are the wests tigers ...poor management and coaching since Sheens left ...says it all...

Actually it started before Sheens left, he even stayed too long

Ayshford at 5/8

Fitzy at 6, Johnny Cronk at 7, Sheens was no master at picking teams

Yeah....brutal. Two generational FBs and somehow we ended up paying Mbye 800 to play 1 and fail.

Nothing we can do now though.

Oh Dear when its put like that it HURTS....

He wasn't ever stand out good in lower grades, was he? I don't really remember him having much hype or doing much when with us.

I don't know about that

Cheers, just don't remember much hype around him and never noticed him in games as a standout. There was big hype around tedesco. I think paps took time to adjust physically given he's undersize and Melbourne obviously know how to coach players. I wonder if he'd have made it if he stayed with us?

Tigers really rated Paps but Bucky Beaver lied through his teeth, telling all and sundry that he was resigning with the Tigers - at the time it was reported he was telling those close to him that he wanted out of the Tigers but everyone else got the BS ... gutless in my mind.

a lament thread was created long ago

This thread is unnecessary torment. Leave me alone

Well we had Tedesco Paps and Addo-Carr
How is that for torment
Throw in Korobetti
And if you want that Sook Moses and his mate back up Woods
Who else is still currently playing worth mentioning
Matterson
Sironen x 2
Tatola
Taupau
Ah yeah
I can see why people call us the feeder club

Its the other f word I use.

Friendly?

You do it with certain friends

Or people you hate
But in a different way

Let’s remember the Storm tried to offload him last year but couldn’t get any takers. I’d say for them it’s a case of good luck rather than good management in this instance.

You'd think the club that only let him go because they had tedesco at the time would have jumped at signing him.

This club is scared of SPEED. If you have it you will not play for the WT. Teddy,Koro JDC, Paps, Moses just to name a few. Last player with genuine speed not sold was Larry. Why is that?

I always knew once Melbourne announced the signing of Papenhuyzen that he would be Billy Slaters successor. Just had such eiree timing about it. Plus the kid was the only specialist fullback on Melbournes books.
Scott Drinkwater, 20s 5/8
Jarome Hughes, Halfback/Five Eight.

Revisionist history here, just like with Ivan. Of course Tedesco was a priority, and if the club had its time over again, I’d hope they’d still do the same in putting all their focus on him. It’s just unfortunate he strung the club along.

Sure he’s a good player, but he’s not a generational player. I spit my drink reading that.

He's far better than good. He was a champion junior and his senior career is consistent with his junior ability.

We got it horribly wrong and he was the one we should have concentrated on keeping.

If you were Papa and Storm flew you down to Melbourne with your parents, Slater and Smith give you a guided tour before Bellamy talks to you and your parents of how you will fit into their system, learn from Slater and be part of a winning culture, bloody hell you would sign your life away. Melbourne recruitment system is second to none.

Who cares about his junior career. He’s a good player sure, but the club was right to prioritise Tedesco.

And where is our self belief? Are we so down on ourselves that we can't fall back in our own proud histories? I'd be pretty impressed if I were a junior and the WTs brought out a few of our own greats - Dorahy, Jack, Brasher to meet me and detail our plans for the future.

I care and I'm sure many others do as well. The juniors are the life blood of the Club.

Agree but I know first hand what Melbourne do as I am friends with Scott Drinkwater uncle and that is what he received. No other club that were after him provided so much care and details.
