Parish firms for Wests Tigers coaching job

Can I again put the lunatic ,madman comments to bed

From the Gladstone players who played under him at the Central Qld Comets that I have spoken to had nothing but praise for Parish

They were the bye of the Qld Cup until he took over and they made the semi's for the first time without any big name players and were unlucky not to make the GF

Again I think their are better options out their with the assistant coaches we are possibly interviewing but he won't be the worst option

You keep on & on & on about him making the semis in the QLD reggies comp…big deal.
It doesnt seem too much of a big deal to me

Looks like Elliott is a done deal at NZ...where does Sheens go?

**I cant wait for the magpie moanfest. We listened to it about Sheens for years and its still goin.....**

Yeah that's right Ink, so what about the comets. Im not having a go at you happy, but Todd Payten has already achieved more than what Parish has and he won't even get a look in.

I keep going on and on and on and on and on (enough on's yet ) because the guy has been supposedly called a lunatic and a madman when people I have actually spoke to who were coached by him said he was fine

If you read any reference I have made to the coaches I want it has been the same since day squat

Folkes if we have the money ,Dymock if we don't and are after the best assistant

Annoys the hell out of me when people pull out some small piece of what you have said and not read the whole comment

Maybe it proves their attention span

MATT Parish remains firm favourite to coach Wests Tigers next season ahead of rivals Nathan Brown, Kevin Walters and Jim Dymock.

Parish has the necessary board support to take over next season from sacked Tim Sheens.

Dymock is highly regarded but is reluctant to leave Canterbury, where he is an assistant coach under Des Hasler.

Wests Tigers have a board meeting a fortnight from today, where a sub-committee is expected to recommend Parish for the top job.

The board is likely to accept the recommendation although some at the club want the coaching vacancy filled sooner.

Parish, a former Balmain player whose father Don represented Western Suburbs and Australia, is understood to have had discussions with the club.

Walters, assistant coach to Craig Bellamy at premiers Melbourne, was being pushed by some at the Tigers but he is unlikely to be successful.

Parish comes with glowing reports from NSW State of Origin coach Laurie Daley and Tigers legend Steve Roach. If unsuccessful, Parish would then sign a three-year deal as assistant coach to Ricky Stuart at Parramatta.

Sheens has not yet indicated whether he will accept another position at Wests Tigers. That decision is likely to be made next week when he returns from Townsville, where he is coaching Australia.

With Parish now leaving Manly, the Sea Eagles are searching for a new assistant coach. Candidates include Stuart Raper, Tony Iro, Brad Arthur and Phil Blake.

i can see your point happy, its all coaching experience. QLD cup is stronger than NSW cup too.
from what i hear he's a tough nut, which is exactly what some of our players need. if he gets it, im sure he'll lay down the law.

To all the fans that believe Parish is the coach we should sign, ahead of all the others, you have turned out to be a bigger joke than our club.

I WILL SAY THIS FOR THE LAST TIME :brick:

I HAVEN'T SAID AT ANY STAGE AT ALL I THINK PARISH SHOULD BE COACH OF THE TIGERS

I AM JUST SAYING THAT AS MUCH AS PEOPLE ON HERE ARE SAYING HE IS A MAD LUNATIC AND CRAZY, OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN COACHED BY HIM SAY OTHERWISE

BLOODY HELL IMAGINE IF I DID PUSH THE PERSON I WOULD LIKE TO SEE GET THE JOB ,I'D BE CRUCIFIED BECAUSE I KNOW HIM

Thats a bit harsh mate

Just because someone has a differeing opinion doesnt make them a joke….theres no right or wrong here

Don't weigh into these debates much but we're at the stage where we need a coach. The right coach. RIGHT NOW. Dt says something about a board meeting in 2 weeks, which is far too late regardless of who we appoint. We should be giving the new coach enough time to make a difference of we'll start the year 0-5 and wait for some September form. What do we gain from the change if that happens?

I coached a Balmain Juniors Under 7 side who were undefeated all year and won the premiership (true). I was also made coach of the year by the Junior Club (true). Does that qualify me to coach Wests Tigers 1st grade side in 2013?

Throw your hat into the ring Bluebag.
With a name like Newtown however, you might have more luck sending your CV to the Roosters.

How many NRL premierships have Gladstone won.

its painfully obvious that all your saying is the "lunatic" rumours could easily be false due to you speaking by those who have played under him. Your not saying anything more or anything less. I have no idea why some have got the idea your supporting Parish…..you said nothing of the sort

Still think we should kill two birds with one stone and offer Robbie a three year Captain/coach deal. Grant Jones could hold his hand during the capital 'C'clipboard moments and the extra duties might just keep him so busy he has to forgo that nasty twitter habit of his.

If that's no good … Who's that nice man I've seen coaching the Kangaroos ?

Parish coached the Comets only for a couple of seasons I believe from 2006\. They got the wooden spoon in his first season and came second last in his next season. I am pretty sure he didn't stay much longer than that. Couple that with his 5 loss/1 win record in England and it is a BIG no-no from me.
