Parish will be coach

@Jerry, have to agree,if we think this year was a media circus imagine what Hadley is going to do to us if Parish has hold of the reins in 2015….the mind boggles.........

Ok so we have two major issues. One we finally set up a new board restructure to rid ourselves of the old Balmain and Wests boys club infighting. We have absolutely been a complete basket case with the media soap opera this year with robbiegate playing itself out thru the media all freaking year. Our solution????? We sign the ONE person on earth who ONE has played his WHOLE NRL CAREER WITH THE BALMAIN TIGERS and TWO IS DATING RAY HADLEYS EX WIFE.You think the most powerful man in rugby league media tycoon Ray Hadley and his lovesick egotistical ways arent going to make sure that the Wests tigers are grilled from pillar to posts thru the media for the whole time this guy is coach.WOW.

If Paul fletcher was a candidate then I'd be looking at Steve anntonelli from Mounties .this guy can coach .parish was short listed last time and it was rumoured Alan jones was going to pay his first year of salary ..I hope the joint isn't taking the cheap option once again . We have some great young juniors coming through,we need a top coach to help nurture the talent , anything less will not be good enough .

So you're telling me the likes of Anthony Griffin, Nathan Brown and Jason Taylor are in the mix and they pick Parish…

And a further way of moving away from the perceived Balmain led Wests Tigers with this new board is to get ONE a former Balmain Nrl coach (Allan Jones) to offer to pay the first years salary of a person who played his whole NRL career with the Balmain Tigers..Lets look at Alan Jones nrl career thru history shall we.Well maybe Alan Jones is a coaching mastermind.MMM 1988 and 1989 Balmain are grand finalists.Alan Jones takes over as coach and famously states "Balmain are sick of coming second." Jones record was 12th in 91,10th in 92 and 12th in 93.Jones was dubbed with his best known nickname the "PARROT" during this time of his career.Im sure a lot of old ex magpies who have been accused of being "fossils" when questioning Balmains stranglehold over this JV are a "tad aggrieved" from these reports out today.

And as I do say from time to time hello GNR  IM ex Balmain not Wests but I know that in order for this club the Wests Tigers to grow we need to rid ourselves of this type of crap.

McFadden & Payten have links from their Canberra raiders days…played together for five years

There is also the Rueben Wiki connection as well….Warriors strength & conditioning coach played with McFadden & Toddy too

I wouldnt rule out this rumour.....though Tottie may have gotten the info from the story in the SMH yesterday

I posted the thread before the article appeared …...I was given info lunchtime sat. You can mock me as you usually do but as i said i may well be right. Infact i am half way there. For the record i too am devastated that Parish will be the pick

The new board must be relying on Mayers judgement on the coaching issue. Was Parish ever assistant coach at Manly ?

Yes he was - under Geoff Toovey. I was thinking the same thing but was unsure if Mayer was also at Manly at same time. Seems to make sense if he has endorsed him.

After what Brad Arthur did with Parra this yr, anything is possible. Untested NRL coaches can go either way, though i would rather a coach with NRL experience.

GNR, I agree.
We need an experienced coach simply because of the "player power" rubbish. You don't get player power from the inexperienced rookies, it is started and encouraged by your more experienced players.

For this reason alone I want an experienced coach

So much depends upon what the club has left to pay for a coach after the Sheens sacking landed them in court. We as supporters have no idea as to what the club can now afford to pay for a coach. Obviously inexperienced coaches are available at a cheaper rate.

the only (or the main reason) for no re-appointing potter would be inexperience. it's criminal to appoint someone with even less experience.

in the long run, parish might turn out to be a good coach for us but if they go with parish now- it'll be the wrong decision.

Has Brian Smith and Jason Taylor worked together apart from player/coach at Parra? If so, a new coach with the total backing of the football manager would sort the player power rubbish. They could be a good partnership.

I'm still a supporter of giving Brian Smith the job on a strict 2 yr contract, with a young assistant as his protege to take the reigns in 2017,

I'm loathe to even think about Smith getting his hands on Brooks and Moses as a coach but he could strighten out a few players. I'd rather him in the new role they've advertised for.

Your Puerile Condescension of Tottie's comments shows how miffed you are that someone might have some good information and deserve some credit. This kind of condescension is what makes this forum a bit of a S**thole at times.

…..your thoughts are shared by many on here.....

So if Parish is given the coaching roll why is Potter being sacked? Potter had a proven track record before coming to the club ..the rest we all know . Parish has no top grade coaching expierinace at all other than being in the NSWRL Star Chamber and connected with some high profile personalities offers nothing!
This appointment is a total negative moving forward and another BALMAIN favourite son to bout does this club ever see the light …. IMO if this is the case the Weststigers will be guaranteed the wooden spoon next season.
There seems to be some very qualified applicants for the job and please money has no bearing on this appointment you do not give away this team that has so much to offer to save a few $$$$.
All I see in my crystal ball with this appointment is negativity.

Apart from Robbie Farah - who many seem to believe has too much say/ power however you would like to phrase it - who are the other current players that people think need towing into line? With a relatively young squad I just don't understand who else could possibly be calling any shots, and how this is seen as such an issue with the current playing group?

Please, please. stop with the innuendos and rumours. We will all know in about 3 weeks or so.

PS. Stay off the Kool-Aid and twitter. It's not called twitter for nothing. You are a twit if you believe anything on it.

Is not Matt Parish's father Don Parish who had a long career with Western Suburbs Magpies?
