Parramatta Cap Investigation..

I think the Eels will carry on with the good footy , won't make the 8 of course

They are a different breed than previous seasons

Just saw before on Nine news that Toddie has been seen speaking to Parramatta coach Brad Arthurs and Parramatta players this morning

Half the problem with the salary cap is there are to many way the clever or cheats can try and manipulate it. It needs to be 100% black and white and the same for every team, and for those who still try and operate outside it, the penalties also should be black and white.

I just think a few other teams have rorted the system and either have got a slap on the wrist and a fine or got away with it.

Feel for the Parra fans, because they have to cop the pain due to a dysfunctional board, but I suppose we have had the same pain for a few years now because our board dug a deep hole for us to dig ourself out of

The salary cap investigation into Parramatta is finally over, with the NRL handing down a 12 point penalty and a $1 million fine to the embattled club.

Five officials - club chairman Steve Sharp, deputy chairman Tom Issa, director Peter Serrao, CEO John Boulous and Head of Football Daniel Anderson - have all been deregistered by the NRL and will leave the club.

The sanctions have all but ended the high-flying Eels' hopes of returning to finals football for the first time since 2009 despite starting the season with six wins from their first nine games. The Eels will still be able to play for competition points the remaining games season.
NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg determined the penalty on Monday night after the integrity unit's near three month investigation into a range of third party agreements, informing Eels officials of the commission-approved sanctions on Tuesday morning.

Greenberg met with the club officials on Monday morning to deliver the news.
The NRL's head of integrity unit, Nick Weeks, will join Greenberg at a press conference at League Central later Tuesday morning to explain why Parramatta will be playing for pride for the rest of what was a promising season.

At the club's AGM on Monday night, Parramatta chairman Steve Sharp vowed to fall on his sword and resign if it spared the club being docked competition points.

However the NRL's punishment may not necessarily be the final chapter in the salary cap probe, with Parramatta hierarchy prepared to push back against the NRL in the courts claiming they have not been afforded procedural fairness.

12 points rubs them out of the 8 you'd think. They'd need to win 12 games from here till seasons end (assuming cut off is 28)

Thing that annoys me is why did it drag on so long, it's like the better Parra were the more points they stripped. All that false hope for their fans to come to nothing

Also amateur hour for NRL. Press conference at 11:30 but pretty much everyone knows the jist of the situation a couple hours out

Will be a bit of an Anti Climax

12 points for underhanded and systemic cheating is VERY LOW.

Not good enough NRL

Absolutely, either they cheated or they didn't. You'd think after so many other offences, they'd make a point of staying squeaky clean. Only the teams they've beaten are truly affected with this decision.

Million dollar fine for Parra is like being flogged with a wet lettuce, they've got plenty of cash.

12 points would rub them out for the year, feel sorry for the fans and team this year if they are cap compliant. Go out, bust your arse and essentially play for nothing because the club were underhanded.

Players need to be released to stay under the cap. Hope Pascoe and JT are paying attention.

I thought I read somewhere their cap is fine for 2016 now, the damage was done in 2015

They have to shed $570,00 worth of players before they can earn a point.

Today is apparently D-Day for Parra to learn their fate….

If the NRL are serious they MUST...Strip them of their SPOONS...

 Too funny Geo. Parramatta are repeat offenders so I hope and 😛ray: they lose comp points and not just receive a fine with a slap on the wrist to go with it.
A large fine for a rich club like Parra is not a problem. The NRL must hit them where it hurts and thats taking away points.

If they take away 12 points, the eels can still make the 8 which is an absolute disgrace, no doubt the NRL is doing this to entice the fans to still go out and support the team.

8th place Panthers are on 8 points and while it's 4 games it's going to be tough for the eels, basically having to win 13 from 15

The NRL is run by clueless dimwits

Punishment is public. They are to lose all their points they've accumulated this season, and will not be able to earn any more this year until they have taken the steps necessary to get their side under the 2016 cap.
