Parramatta Cap Investigation..

@Snake said:
The problem with Watmough is he is after an insurance payout of around $3million but the insurance company think his injury was pre existing and are baulking at any payment ..hence the non move to retire .

Made me laugh when everyone thought it was gonna be as easy as getting Watmough to retire - Get his insurance money and they'd be right.
When was there a time in history that an insurance company ever parted with a dime without a fight…. They could drag it out for years!!

The Players @ Parra knew it was happening and the player I spoke with from the Current FG team says that its is in all clubs.

In think they are trying to find a way to rort the rorting that was the rorting to get under the 2016 Cap…

Whatever happens it continues to be a big test for the NRL who went with the big stick that may now end up a twig...

I've heard a lot of fans and not just Parra one's saying the penalty was to harsh and ALL Clubs stretch the Cap...to me there is a big difference between breaching the Cap through accounting or ruling and systemic rorting to build a better roster....

That is like a person saying that he steals because everyone else steals. It is a convenient delusion. The truth is that the club is severely contravening the rules so that they can illegally defeat all other clubs every week and win a premiership. Too bad for a club that sticks by the CAP.

Parra are going to have a tough time offloading Peats as no other side in the comp has room for a hooker. Or so we were told last yr when Farah was told he was free to leave.

I still can't believe Watmough might be cleared as a career-ending injury but nobody in the media has ever brought up Liam Fulton.

Make no mistake, the other NRL clubs are sweating on these rulings, as precedent for their own cap "adjustments".

No one told me this. Who told you. Unless of course this is another anti-Farah post.

Get ready for an avalanche of these "adjustments" from other clubs if Parramatta get their way. The NRL is making a rod for their own back.

No wanted him then? Ok, that makes much more sense.

That's what I was told !

I believe Parra are arguing that Watmough didn't have the injury at the time of signing the contract, that the career ending injury happened before this season started, and therefore want his entire salary for this year to be exempt from the cap. I don't agree with this but that's what they're going for.

The backdating of the exemption couldn't have happened for Fulton as his injury happened during the season. Also the rules were different back then pre-McKinnon too.

Hope the NRL knocks them back for Watmough, at least partially (his exemption shouldn't be backdated) and then parra need to find clubs willing to take players at full value. Canberra with Paulo are about the only ones willing to do so at present and he makes the most sense but won't free up enough cap space.

At least 2-3 starting players, or one really big name should be released IMO.

Funny thing is - Parra are arguing the injury didn't occur till the pre-season, But still assembled this squad that is reportedly more than Watmoughs' price (whatever that may be) over the cap.
They've already lost Ryan Morgan, Now they trying to wipe Watmough and are STILL over the cap.

They've put this season together either
1: Knowing they were over the cap OR
2: Knowing Watmough was done and would retire….

They can't have it both ways.... They either knew he was done or they didn't. If they didn't know he was done, Then they knew damn well they were over the cap.
Just a heap of backtracking and trying to pretend they were attempting to do the right thing.
They're full of it.

I reckon the Rabbits will have a dig at Peats!

Titans have been linked. Got to feel for the players, they are treated like pawns to an extent. Up and moving to the Gold Coast, or even Newcastle on a day or two's notice is ridiculous.

Don't feel too bad for him, I've heard a number of reports that he's a jerk with a massive ego that treats his teammates like crap. If he does get punted there are a few that won't be sad to see him go.

I've heard the exact opposite, that he's well liked in the dressing room.

Rabbits are full aren't they?

Knights and Saints probably have the most money on offer I would say.

there's a few clubs in need of a hooker - Knights, Rabbits are a couple that spring to mind….

It was only a year ago that the Rabbits were hailing Cameron MacInnis as the next big thing. Then they brought Cook in from the Dogs.
I think the Broncos wouldn'tmind having Peats on their books to cover for McCulloch while he is injured for another week or two. Surely the Broncies have a bit of cash left under the cap to splash out on a midseason surprise??
Maybe they can convince the NRL to let him go up there due to "homesickness" like they have with plenty of others…...who cares if he is from NSW. That's the way the Broncos roll.

Rabbitohs signed the Broncos second rower Brett Greinke yesterday for the remainder of 2016 & 2017 so may have little space left in the cap for this year.
