It's highly likely that full autonomy over the playing roster was written into the contracts of both Chin Senior & Madge. Nothing coaches hate more than roster interference from management and/or the board. It's micro-managing at it's worst and promotes bias from unqualified individuals.

Yes the CEO's signature of approval is required as a final sign-off but in the end it's a mere formality. Doubt Pascoe had any constructive input or final say on who the coaches brought over.

Do you really think Madge knows all the intricate details of the salary cap ? No that lies with the front office, Pascoe does not have a mere formality to signing players that would be ludicrous

Pascoe has overseen some shocking over priced contracts which has kept us in a bad salary cap state.

Madge can and should take blame for Joey and Dohehi but Pascoe has not had to answer for the recruitment decision he has been a part of as the CEO.

Maybe it's time a new CEO is looked at ?

Take blame for Doueihi? What's he done wrong? Been one of our most consistent this year.

Is he playing at a level a 650k player should be performing at ? No

Just a bit early to be holding everyone to account, especially on this signing.

Reynolds, Mbye, Packer I agree with - way overs!

Nope we've paid overs on Dohehi by 200k at least at least with the Titans you know what you'll get from Fifita even though he's been paid 200k more as well

do they know what fifita will give them??? We thought we knew what Blair would offer us but didn't....Only hindsight will tell with this one

Blair was an established test player so was deserved of his income and showed the quality of player he was before he joined

What garbage. How do you know Fifita will bring the same form he is in at Brisbane to the Titans? Adam Blair was the form forward of the competition before arriving at WT. It turned out to be one of the worst signings in our history.

Fifita has the runs on the board, sure he might do nothing but at least the Titans know the capabilities of the man...Dohehi on the other hand hasn't shown much for that coin before he joined and hadn't shown the form that warrants 650k this season

so what would you class fifita as then? Only played 40 club games but played for qld and his country.....also has done more gaol time than Blair as well if we're comparing the two.... 😉

I think you are failing to realize is that WT do not have the attraction the Roosters, Storm etc have. Until the COE arrives and we start playing finals football we will struggle to attract and always pay overs for players

See above

Pascoe can only give his opinion on signings the power of veto for large contracts is done by the board. who consider the recommendations..

The value/length of contracts is done by the Coach, Recruiter and manager of football operations..

The business side of the Club achieving self sustainability is moving forward..

So he is another protected species then

Tell me then ..should we get excited because we will finish higher than 8th in the self sustainability premiership for 2020

Where are the finals for that held ....imagine a packed BankWest watching that GF .....WOW .....hang on ...let me breathe ...let me breathe

Tell

Never said that ..the responsibility for signing players by the CEO was questioned..

How do you know Pascoe didn't question the signings Voldemort made...the power of veto lies with the board not the CEO..

The anger should be directed at them...

Guess what too... bar a change in Chair a couple of times..... for the past 6 years since Pascoe has been here they have been as well..

Would you rather the Club not be heading to sustainability especially in these times..?

woah boys wind it back.

On a side note, i see Pascoe gets a lot of credit for getting the club back into the black. What exactly has he done to do that? ( i dont know) Does it rely on fans/ memberships/ game attendance? if the reason the club is profitable is tied in any way to the fans interaction how long can that keep going? at some point more and more people will drop off and you would think the revenue streams will go with them.

I agree that the Management has gotten off without being accountable for allowing Cleary and JT to make bad decisions in terms of recruitment ( Farah to Souths included).

On the other hand we are getting stronger with Sponsorship and the COE.

We need to never again repeat these mistakes

Can we try and win games and make the finals like the other clubs do ...because everything else tends to sort itself out after that ..I know it is completely radical and foreign to this club ....I just think we should try and follow the masses on this one

I dont pretend to know but I would think it is combination of fan influenced (steady increase in membership) and not fan influenced (Corporate engagement and increase in sponsorship).

OK have just deleted posts that contain personal attacks between forum users..

This is not acceptable ..by all means debate the topic ..leave the other stuff out..

Any further will result in further action..thank you

Hmm, dunno about memberships increasing, I saw something that has this time last year vs this year and it was like 5k less. You could say its covid but its not the case across the board with other clubs.

Lets hope there's a few more law firms needing a tax write-off cause I dont think the $$$$ will continue to come in from fan engagement if the club cant produce some on field success.

Madge's job is to build a competitive roster and coach/develop those players. Football Operations handles salary cap details and Madge would consult with them for roster management.

This is how the conversations would go:
**Madge** - Hey footy operations, I want player Y for next year, can we fit him in for X amount of $$$?
**Footy Operations -** Sure Madge we can make that work.

**Madge -** Hey Pascoe, I want player Y for next year at X amount of $$$. Great potential, lots of upside. Recruitment department and I feel he'd be a great asset to the club. Footy Operations said that cap space won't be an issue.
**Pascoe -** Sure Madge. That's what we hired you for. I'll go clear it with the board and get back to you.

**Pascoe -** Hey Board, Madge wants player Y for next year. Great potential, lots of upside. Myself, Madge & the Recruitment department feel he’d be a great asset to the club.
**Board -** Can we fit him under the cap?
**Pascoe -** Yeah mate, no cap issues. No need to offload any players.
**Board -** Sweet, go get him JP

**Pascoe -** Hey Madge, Board approves. Lets go get him. Nice work. I'll contact Football operations and get them to draw up the necessary paperwork. LET'S DO THIS!!!
**Madge -** Settle down JP. The kid hasn't played 1st grade yet but has great potential. Definitely a project.
**Pascoe -** Hehehe:blush: I get excited about signing news because it'll give the Wests Tigers Forum nuffies a ray of hope and distract them from our crap performances over the past decade. I'll get The POM to break the news tonight.

I believe things are starting to turn around in the front office, the board would know what plans are n place, what targets they have set and how Pascoe has the club progressing towards those targets.

Ok... lets go back to losing millions, in-fighting at the board, past stars constantly speaking out negatively about the club, leaks worse than the titanic, no future asset growth with dodgy facilities and coach selections such as potter and Taylor.

Anyone who thinks pascoe has been a failure needs their head read. Remember he came in right when taylor was antagonising robbie. The damage was already done with the "Big 4". We've had some hiccups, but it's been an upward trajectory since then.

Some of our current signings we're a mad scramble to replace those guys. Imagine the team we would have fielded if we didn't jump quickly? There wasn't a truckload of signings available.

Paying overs is unfortunately a reality for us, and any other club consistently missing the top 8.
I don't blame the CEO, they have to give coaches the power to pick their squad otherwise you end up with the committee like the dragons. How's that working?

And to sign most players, we have to pay overs and hope they pan out.

Can you imagine JAC weighing up options like these:
Storm 450k
Roosters 400k
South's 450k
Tigers 450k

We would be no chance, simple as that. Until we play regular finals footy, we would have to offer 550k minimum. Players and managers know this.

I will say Madge and pascoe recent pick ups have had a high success rate
Douei (solid and improving)
Luciano (not sure what he is on but I'd imagine he is a bargain)
Bj (we finally have a strike player. How many times have we been on the receiving end of his try in the weekend)
Blore (looks the goods)

The blame lays with Ivan unfortunately. He got the squad he wanted and then bailed, leaving the mess behind. CEO has to trust the coaches squad decision, otherwise, why have a coach?
