Meh I'll take that. They've spread the cap penalty, halved the fine and we get Pascoe back.

Wonder if the club will challenge it.

Wests Tigers will have half of their $750,000 fine suspended and will have the $639,000 cap fine spread over 2 years, meaning the club won't have to shed any players. CEO Pascoe will be able to return in 6 months (Sydney Morning Herald)

he NRL has suspended half of Wests Tigers' $750,000 fine and will allow the club's former chief executive Justin Pascoe to return to the game in just over three months.

The governing body will on Friday close the book on a number of outstanding integrity matters, with the Tigers one of the clubs most affected.

The Tigers were fined for not declaring an ambassadorial arrangement when Robbie Farah left the club in 2016.

Pascoe was deregistered for failing to disclose a lucrative ambassadorial role for hooker Robbie Farah when he retires. The Tigers were left reeling when the NRL imposed a provisional $750,000 fine – as well as deducting $639,000 out of their salary cap – because they had not declared the arrangement when Farah left the club in 2016.

As part of the NRL's final determination, it can be revealed the fine will be halved and the salary cap penalty will be spread over two seasons rather than just rolled into 2019\. That means the Tigers won't have to shed any players and the latest arrival, former Rabbitoh Robert Jennings, will be part of a salary cap-compliant squad for this year.

The news is also positive for Pascoe. His provisional deregistration was open ended, raising fears he could be wiped out of the game permanently. However, his ban will end after six months, backdated to December 19\. That means Pascoe will be free to return to the Tigers from June 19.

Justin Pascoe's ban will soon be served, allowing him to return to Wests Tigers.

It's understood the joint venture club will welcome him back on that date, allowing him to resume his administrative career. Pascoe has been credited with getting the Tigers back in the black financially and was also a driving force in obtaining the funds required for a new centre of excellence.

They've tried to give just enough of a reduction to make it not worth our time, money and attention to take them to court. By delaying their findings they've given a pretty narrow window to Pascoe to challenge his deregistration and have any utility in the outcome by way of an early return.

That’s a great result, bring on the footy

Wasn't it your view that WT should have accepted the original penalties imposed by the NRL? Had we done so the position we're in would be far worse than it appears to be if reports are correct.

Doesn't mean he can't be happy that the penalties imposed have been reduced. Who wouldn't prefer that over the original penalties?

Considering ours was more or less a oversight or poor management, whereas the Sharks was a deliberate attempt to rort the Salary cap.
The penalty we had imposed on us is still way more than it should have been compared to the Sharks.

Nope, I never said we shouldn't go through with our appeal. I said we shouldn't take the findings of he appeal to a court of law. And I stilll don't, I think we've got a good result.

Sure it's a lot better but still feel it's rough on Pascoe and he must be tempted to, as Ritchie would say, "fight it"
I don't know how to feel about the salary cap penalty being spread over two years, seems a pity to have it as an issue for next year as well
In my opinion Greenberg and Beattie aren't the guys to run our game, they are far too short term and concerned with being seen to do something rather than thinking of the long term

Not trying to be a smart a… mate because we've crossed swords in the past but below is a direct quote in full from one of your earlier posts.

"A smart club would admit fault, cop the penalty and move on.":

When you look at the penalties in the same story piece, our fine seems so ridiculous when you look at how snakey the sharks do their business. Who cares if they self reported it, that shouldnt even come into the equation. Why dont the Sharks cop a fine as well as a cap deduction? The Sharks terrible history of cheating and rorting the system needs to be taken more into account.

The only conclusion you can come to for no fine is that the NRL may think that will bankrupt the club. The cap penalty doesn't impact on the clubs ability to pay whereas a fine does. The NRL has already stated in the past that they will not bail clubs out anymore. So maybe Toddys idea of fairness is lets not hit Cronulla because they don't have the means to pay but Wests are fair game because they can pay.
