Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

At 8am this morning the NRL informed Wests Tigers that it is issuing a preliminary breach notice in relation to an ambassador agreement with Robbie Farah.

The club is shocked with the decision and extremely disappointed in the process.

It is an arrangement that Wests Tigers had with Robbie that is unrelated to his career as a player. The club does not know if he is going to take it up and Robbie has not indicated his intention in return.

The reason the ambassadorship was offered in November 2015 is that then new CEO Justin Pascoe felt that the club had disrespected Robbie and this was a way to show him the respect that Justin felt he deserved as a Life Member and club legend due to the overwhelming support Robbie had at the time from Members and fans.

Most importantly Wests Tigers derive absolutely no advantage from this arrangement. It is not tied in any way to Robbie's playing contract.

Wests Tigers are particularly concerned about the wrongful attack on the integrity of the club's CEO. For the last three years Justin has shown nothing but respect for the NRL and the salary cap.

The club will be vigorously defending this.

Utterly absurd. Unless there's much more to it they have zero grounds to fine us that much and penalise the cap when no offer was even accepted! And the total offer was 400k. Yet other clubs who have deliberately cheated the cap and been caught have been penalised much much less.
Utter madness

This doesn't add up to me….its like being given 5 years jail for not paying your M5 toll....has to be more to it...Pascoe I'm not worried about a new CEO will be found $639k off our cap hurts when we still have spots to fill....

Pascoe deregistered???
639k out of the cap???
Just watching the interview on FSN and am not believing what I’m seeing from Greenberg

What a joke we need to get an online petition to NRL denouncing this Pascoe decision if it’s wrong especially as Club is also challenging this. We need some people power to stick it to Greenberg

Ridiculous decision. I don't understand the severity of the sanctions particularly on the salary cap, when we gained absolutely no benefit from it.

I end up getting further disillusioned with the game each year. Just further evidence of the corruption and favouritism shown by the NRL.

I'm disgusted by this.

The only way we can be pinging is the the money for the role was in lieu of money to be received in 2016 under his existing NRL contract nothing to do with offering a job post footy which a lot of Clubs do..if we have we are dumb as dog poo..

Considering we still chipped in something like 700k for his salary at Souths it doesn't appear to be in lieu of anything.

The NRL could perhaps argue that we are getting the benefit now, that Robbie Farah returned on a reduced contract due to the fact he has a commitment of a job after football?

He doesn't have a job after football. Nothing has been agreed. And he's an old player at the end of his career and has been names in ISP numerous times over the past year or two. Being on a lower salary is relevant to his current status.

Greenburg is definitetly the one who should be sacked immediately. Maybe Greenburg fears Pacoe as a strong competitor for the NRL CEO position which "no morals" Dictator Greenburg has stained beyond redemption during his time as NRL CEO.

I'm shocked. What is the point of following this competition? Who is it for? Just a few out of touch "leaders"? Rich and powerful clubs?

Personally I'm no longer interested in watching a game that is becoming a circle jerk for a bunch of self interested egomaniacs.

Everything about the NRL is a joke and an embarrassment to sport. Starts at the top with the muppets running it.
