Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

Youre assuming an ex employee informed the NRL of something everyone knew about?

Right

Not to mention the fact that the NRL has apparently been investigating this for 2 months, so he wasn't a former employee at the time. Simple fact is, if we had disclosed this to the NRL than everything would be sweet.

yea i thought the same - Ivan got what he wanted - no need for revenge - whereas JT did all the dirty work on Farah and then got shafted.

The NRL did release a statement regarding other agenda items from the meeting, headed by the recent spate of alleged violence against women. Five players have been charged by police, forcing the NRL to act by actioning an audit of steps taken by clubs to address issues of violence againstwomen. A report is expected to be in front of the Commission in the new year. “The Commission, together with the NRL, reiterated that the game will continue to take a strong stance to combat violence against women,” the statement read. “The Commission agreed as a priority, to ensure that appropriate action is being taken across the game to deal with recent instances of violence against women.” The ARLC board also ticked off on a number of rule changes to be introduced in time for next season, includingreducing the shot clock on scrums and drop-outs. Parameters are also likely to be set around sin-bin and send-off use. “These are important announcements that ensure our game develops and improves,” ARLC chairman Peter Beattie said.

Nothing about Wests??

The sharks salary cap findings are next year. Tigers, Flanagan and a few other things were meant to be sorted in that meeting.

The fact they have called them into the NRL for a meeting I would expect him to be deregistered.

Instead of everyone making excuses, why don’t we just take it on the chin and move on. If this was happening to another club, we’d be screaming the house down, saying the NRL needs to come down hard, otherwise they are gutless. If you think otherwise, you are lying to yourself.

I understand them holding off on the Sharks and dealing with that later in the week but i wonder why they would hold back on our issue.

I am still unsure as to how it works, if the line from that article I posted before is correct, I cannot for the life of me see how WT undervalued Farah's contract when we paid him $750K to play at Souths for the final year of his contract…

If we've done something wrong, OK fair cop, but it doesn't appear to line up with what the NRL themselves allegedly say.

I agree 100%. It's not a major stuff up, but we did stuff up. Put our hand up and cop the punishment and move on. Imagine the outrage if the Roosters announced the signing of Sonny Bill for next year on $300K but said he will be staying at the club after on $300K a year for 4 years to work in marketing. It has the potential to be rorted so the NRL needs to be informed.

Another way to cheat the cap that is similar would be to employ a players wife on $200k to work in the merch stall at the club. These things need to be checked

We didn't inform the NRL of the offer for Farah to work at the club for 4 years at $100k a year, it opens up the potential for rorting so you must inform the NRL.

I understand people's anger at other clubs never getting caught out , just more proof we need to get smarter at being dodgy

My other point is this is why the NRL need to oversee the signing of every players contract AT THE ACTUAL TIME IT IS SIGNED and then IS RECHECKED when it is SUBMITTED and then is COMPARED with the players TAX DECS and checked against back records

Having cash sitting around in the modern day in your house isn't fun , it is not if you can go use it like you once could and spend on renos , boats , school fees etc

We really caught ourselves out, should have shut up like everyone else does, but we didn't so we should cop the punishment.

Totally agree , do the crime , get caught , do the time

One thing I do find interesting in this is I'm surprised more clubs aren't paying for Uni tuition for their players as that is is salary cap exempt.
