Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

The difference is simple: The other clubs punished seemed to know exactly what they were doing to get an advantage, whereas this situation with Pascoe/Robbie seems to be trying to do right by a club legend with no advantage to onfield results.

Except the NRL believe that is not the case.

That is the difference we believe that it was an oversight, and the NRL believe it was a salary cap rorte.

So in their mind the judgement is just for a salary cap rort.

It's ok Todd, we give up - you win!

The situation we are in at the moment in regards to Deregeresting Pascoe, the huge fines and sanctions because the NRL say we cheated the cap etc etc,is a very muddy and mirky legal path to walk down.Even though many of us have varying opinions and thoughts, comparisons to other clubs rorts etc,we will only get the truth when it gets finally resolved..

Maybe Greenburg is trying to make an example of us to deter these happening in the future or maybe he is just hating on us because we are the WTs or he certainly is pushing what the commission wants in harsher penalties ..

Did we make an honest mistake, did we know full well that we were cheating??these are for the legal profession to resolve,I would hope that we did make an HONEST mistake because it would shed a very bad light on Pascoe if he intentionally has done this…

One way or the other it is messy and must be resolved sooner rather than later so it doesn't affect the club for a long period of time going into the new season with a new coach and recruits.Myself I will wait for an outcome before I make a judgment because I don't know the facts or documentation surrounding this unfortunate situation as it is....

Well unless they moved us to 16th place for 2016, 2017 and 2018 I can’t really use us in comparison can I ?

So you leave it out completely and thus make your argument appear stronger than it is. That a terrible reason, here I'll make the comparison for you.

They were docked points and we weren't!

I leave it out because it doesn’t apply to our case.
Please do not argue with me because Eels or whoever we’re docked points and we weren’t. I’m sick of hearing you regurgitate their penalties when I honestly could care less about them.

I know your standpoint and you should already know mine, so let’s leave it at that.

lol, but it applies in the comparison you keep trying to make, doesn't the fact they were penalised points make their punishment more severe?

The eels kept records at board level showing they had deliberately cheated the cap over a period of time.Every other club that has been penalised has made multiple offences in regards to salary cap cheating. We believe we have made ONE error which was a genuine mistake.
Definately dosent sit well with me in regards to the penalty its like being serving life imprisonment for stealing a loaf of bread.Dont get me wrong if we have done the wrong thing we should be penalised but this is draconian

I too hope it is an honest mistake

This argument keeps going round and round and round.
As has been said before, those who believe the penalty is unfair (and I’m one of them) seem to be more annoyed with the inconsistency over many issues. In the scheme of things our penalty is excessive and tempering this line of thinking was not helped by Greenberg’s incredible defense of Inglis. Different scenarios I know but same issue.

I'm only discussing the other clubs as people have said or applied that we copped a worse punishment than the other clubs while failing to acknowledge that those clubs also lost points.

I still do not think that we have done anything wrong, or anything that other clubs do not do.

Inglis will have a role at the Rabbits when he is done. Thurston has a role at the cows, Slater has a role at the Storm, Lewis has a role at the Sharks.

Hodges & Parker have paid employment at an affiliate of the Broncos majority owners.

Anyone that thinks a decision was suddenly made to employ ex-players, and discussions only started the day after their last playing contract expired is naive in the extreme.

We did it poorly, more publicly and more openly than any other club, but if we deserve sanction, then so do the majority of the clubs in the NRL.

I'll make this my last post on the subject, as I don't want to keep arguing with fellow Tigers fans, especially ones whose opinions I value.

I sincerely hope that this is an honest mistake and we get cleared of any wrongdoing, I'm just extremely skeptical of that as the way this has played out look very dodgy.

I am sorry if my posts upset anyone.

As ive said before some of us are just happy to finish 9th. Its a mentality that goes right through to some taking the NRL's side for the ridiculous, unjust and over the top reaction to a minor salary cap indiscretion.

Each to their own and all opinions are valid but im glad im in the group that can see the corruption running through the veins of the current NRL board.

I don't believe it to be a minor indiscretion.

I think it's a clear breach and deserves some form of punishment. I just want to see other clubs cop this as well. Inglis staying at Souths and Thurston at the Cowboys are examples of the same thing happening as what we did with Robbie. I don't know how the NRL are going to start policing this rule.

We should never have pushed Robbie out and I don't think Robbie has been a great marquee player for us at all. It was a really poor business decision that we allowed an incompetent coach to make.

Spot on, we gave the keys to the side to a learner driver, and he crashed the side big time, any person with a small amount of league knowledge could foresee this happening :brick:

I was waiting for you to weigh in with who was to blame.

I respect everyones opinion on here and you certainly have not upset me.If everyone on here always agreed with each other it would be boring.Like you i hope the NRL will see that it is an honest mistake and we can move on.
Better times are coming Cochise

Unfortunately we will never know the truth if….

NRL keep saying we cheated.

Tigers keep saying it is an honest mistake.

If Tigers appeal to the NRL.

The only way we will ever know the truth imo is to take the NRL to a proper court.

The punishment is to the extreme - especially to Pascoe.

We should not lay down over this but show the Tiger spirit to the nth degree.

The NRL has no idea cochise.

You should try out as a public defender for them.

No one would try harder I'm sure.

No I can look at this objectively and see what the Tigers did looks incredibly dodgy.

You have been given information on which you have based your opinions. You have relayed that information, and others have made their opinions. Don't presume to think you are being objective where others are not. It is all still just personal opinions.

I am concerned that we will never know what has happened. If the NRL keeps to their version that WT deliberately cheated, and WT keeps saying that no we did not, how will we ever know what really happened? I'd really like to know, one way or the other.

The NRL has stated that the Tigers have breached the Salary Cap rules. Offering a post career role and not declaring it looks dodgy. **People would be up in arms if this was the Roosters**.

If Easts offered, say, SKD, a post career role when he left for Newcastle (and didn't tell the NRL), then I wouldn't be up in arms - if fact, I couldn't care less.

If, on the other hand, Easts offered one of their marquee players a post career role, and reduced his last contract payments with a promise of paying him the balance post retirement, then I would be cranky.

It all depends on the circumstances.

As it happens, I have four close friends who support other NRL clubs (one of which is Easts) and they all think the Tigers have been harshly treated. But, of course, that's only a sample of four.

I have 5 mates I talk footy with. All believe Tigers treated unfairly. Sample size is now 9.
