Looks like he can tackle hard as well.

Definetly deserves a spot in first grade.

I wouldn't rush him as he's still only 19 but I wouldn't be surprised if he were to debut at some point. He certainly improved rapidly last year and if that development continues to come on quickly then he may get his chance later in the year.

I think we pushed Groat and BMM in before they were ready and the results weren't good

Fair call. I was never sold on Groat, he was a big boy but i just didn't see it in him. BMM on the other hand i thought was going to be a big part of our pack.

Absolutely, Happ. Throwing him to the wolves is the last thing we need to do because of the chance that he gets owned by a big aggressive opposition. I'd rather see him eased in off the bench in the right sort of game, a bit later in the season.

U WILL KNOW VERY SOON IF HE IS THE REAL DEAL , some of the best young props have been 19-20 when they have broke into 1st grade. omeley was one and I think roach was young as well and there was a few others just cant put a name to them at present.

Roach came up and played in Reserve Grade as a youngster from Wollongong. I recall Peter Tunks attempting to rough him up but Roach stood his ground and delivered punches to Tunks. Both were sent off but even then it was clear Roach would be one of the best and toughest we'd ever had at Balmain. Bruiser Maguire and Bruce Sinclair (from Nowra and West Tamworth respectively) had that x factor which made them stand out among second row forwards. Both were tough and uncompromising and a tackle Maguire put on a Knights prop which left that player convulsing under the posts at Leichhardt was one of the hardest I had seen. It followed Steve Edmed suffering a broken jaw from this same Knights forward (late and high swinging arm of course),

The point is SImon Dwyer was a more recent player with that x factor and no garbage in his game. A tragic waste of a fine forward and man. More recently, Bayley Sironen has demonstrated that uncompromising style of play. Let's hope he gets a chance this year in the NRL.

Blocker was also given good protection by Kerry Hemsley - not that he needed it.

Is the Sinclair you refer to the young guy who did his knee in at Leichhardt and never played again? I thought he played many years in the juniors?
