Formerly Isaac Thompson. He played 14 games for Souths between 2022-2024. At 28, he's not young but his game is based on power rather than speed, and he hasn't shown any obvious wear and tear like say Kenny Marmalade. The most impressive part of his game is his ticker, he goes looking for the ball and dents the defence with every hit up. I'm not sure that he figures in Benji's first grade plans but if he can lift our reserves to the final, I'll be a happy Ted.

He looks happy.

A big change in cup for us is the uplift up front. Kit, Taateo, Hunt, Rahme were all smashing people and after starting the year with no prop depth feel we have great depth now. Hunt came off the bench and think 3 hit ups in a row the person trying to tackle him went off injured - he was running hard. Kit has great leg speed and Taateo really impresses me every game since he joined. Rahme at 21 in his 3rd year of nsw cup has something about him.

Interesting for me was Charlie Murray who played some lock but also 30 mins at dummy half - the idea of someone who can play 20 mins at hooker but backrow as well puts him right in the nrl bench placing moving forward so your not using a bench spot on a pure hooker

Thanks for the news on the engine room guys. We need them to stand up. Sounds encouraging.
The developments with Murray are also interesting. Doesn’t solve the dilemma if Api goes down for a month but it is a plan of sorts in the short term.

Murray's service from dummy half was so much better than Lovodua's. Speaking of guys who play both lock and hooker, I was expecting Bailey to come in for Hope but he must still be injured.

They have seemingly wiped Bailey and that’s very disappointing, all who watch the lower grades see the potential in him, except our coaches it would seem.

I hope the club rewards our top performing NSW Cup players with opportunities for next season, either bottom-end top 30, development or T&T again.

In no particular order are our best & most consistent 5 not on a dev or top 30 currently …

Jaxson Rahme
Peter Taateo
Izaak Tui’tupou
Krystian Mapapalangi
Charlie Murray

Out of our top-aged Flegg players, I hope we retain Tino Tavana & Josese Lanyon as musts. Elijah Maataale still a watch. Most others are still Flegg eligible next season.

Thoughts @Vicious @Tigers_Wests @Dr_Ice @boonboon @Bellend @TV Ted Ellery @balmain boy @Demps & other regular Cup|Flegg watchers?

I really Iike Tavana.

Seen him play a few times live and he's quite athletic, good under the high ball and has some toe.

Can see him succeeding.

That's a good list, from external options.
Still think we cast our net far and wide and keep looking on the outside too. Not to keep beating a dead horse but the players are out there, we need to be aggressive in recruitment.

Demps, I have read good things about Tavana so I looked him up. I understand he is ex Scots College and a former Brumby? It is good to know our scouts are out and about. I hope he keeps progressing.

Spot on as usual BWG.
From Cup Rahme has been extremely consistent. He is no frills and reminds me of a shorter version of Alex Twal, to some that is underwhelming, but his hard work, all action style of play and regular metres made is a big part of why our Cup team has gone from struggling to win a game to now becoming highly competitive most weeks.
As you know I’m also a fan of Taateo as he hits top speed very quickly almost every time he runs the ball and is generally aggressive on both sides of the ball.
Tu’itupou has no doubt been the team standout since he joined us and is probably the most influential reason for the team starting to win regular games.
His yardage out of our danger zone has been exceptional and although now in his late 20’s, it makes you wonder if he could provide as good, if not more value than our current NRL wingers ?
Mapapalangi has good size, athleticism and you can see his quality, but we really need to get him playing in the centres, as that’s the position where he can potentially challenge for a regular NRL position, he’s a long way from NRL quality as a 5/8.
Charlie Murray was one you would know I identified as a player to watch very early in the season. He’s doing his job and I’m happy for him that he got an NRL opportunity, but if I’m being honest I was expecting a bit more from him in terms of hitting top speed more often when he runs the ball and seeing more of him playing that link first receiver 13 style of game.
From Flegg you cannot help but be impressed by how Josese Lanyon is finishing the season. He’s another that hits top speed very quickly when running the ball, has some decent ball playing skills to go with it, he’s a bigger body, a solid defender and the big bonus is his versatility in also being a very confident and useful 9. Plenty of our forum friends have suggested we need someone who can play 13 and 9 equally as well, he could be our man,
I like Tino Tavana, he has good speed and athleticism, similarities to Bula and agree he would be good to keep on our books in some capacity, I’m just not certain if he’s as comfortable or as good on the wing as he is at fullback and we seem to have identified him as purely a winger.

He's gutsy.

I saw his Cup debut and he took everything thrown at him and kept coming back.

Think he was a late call up for Jnr Tupou.

Young and quite skinny but a lot of heart.

From a Flegg point of view I think the club has probably identified the right players

Logan dellinger- the fullback is a good player

The outside backs Tavana has some special skills and I like Cameron Kannan on the wing, the rest prob aren't going to be nrl players

The halves Liles who has played some nsw cup has something and Tannous out of SG Ball have potential although not nessecarily nrl stars.

in the forwards been really impressed with Sakuru since he has moved into the backrow - I think he plays nrl next year at some stage.

Other then that not sure any nrl players in them, props are big but don't think any will make it.

Haywood the standout and the club think that too.

One thing about Flegg is usually by the time they are 21 they generally are playing at a higher level already if they are going too - noting that Laulii'is, Fainus all Flegg eligible but already around nrl so not going to see a heap if 21 yr olds in Flegg still making it further.
