Some great potential in that lot (pretty much all playing Flegg or higher at the moment). If you listen to Sheens, he also expects a lot of the Under 17s to be pushing for 1st grade in a couple of years too. Laulili'i's, Da Silva, Galvin, Miller, Mason and co. "If you're good enough, you're old enough".

Just need to have a few of the right experienced players to complement these young ones.

Be very interesting how he comes along with a full NRL preseason under his belt.

If he can get his fitness levels up and his body holds up great upside.
How's he going to fit into our side with Api, Brown, Simpkin pushing claims, Api a given.

I reckon once he is fit and has enough games under his belt back from injury, Rua takes the 14 role. He will probably start in KOE Cup and work up. Bit more upside in the roles he can cover (move into the pack) over Brown (particularly if we have Jacko at 13 who could cover any injuries to halves).

I think Brown is a better player but I haven't seen enough of them to suggest they could fill both dummy half and link/ball playing lock because I feel they need to be able to play both as a sub or injury replacement?

I really liked that centre in Flegg Kurt Picken.
Tall, tough defender hard runner, a real Graham Bradley throwback, remember the penguin?
Bradley was unfashionable but was a good player. Two Steelers' players I really liked were Geoff Selby and Jeff Hardy. Brian Smith brought them from James Cook High. Selby was an outstanding running lock who seemed to be able to break tackles at will, strong hips. Tragically killed in that car accident coming home from the Sharks' Leagues Club. He was thought so highly of at the Dragons that Johnny Raper had quite a bit to do with his development.

Yeah at this point Brown definitely has the experience over him. I just think Api plays close to 80 mins each week except for injuries. Rua seems a bigger body with more agression and can easily slot into that forward rotation and play at 9 if needed for a stint. Brown anywhere other than 9 in the forwards makes our pack a bit smaller and they would then have Api and Brown to run at.

Brown probably gets the spot to start the year (if he is Top 30). Rua should get some time in Cup to build up fitness and confidence after his serious injury. Then I really hope he does well enough to take over.

Don’t like throwing a spanner in the works , but I am getting sick of hearing about our great juniors coming up , yet the only one who has even looked good is pole , there is nothing in the nsw cup , but other clubs are bringing throw 18 -19 -20 year olds who look great . So are we just going to keep waiting for the next 10 years again .

Yup

It seems most of the really exciting talent is the group of kids behind the current lot coming through. So we are probably three years away

Recruit good , they will be ready. Of all the ones that show steel, I’d take 1 in 11 to debut, any day of the week.

1. Kanaan
2. Bula
3. Tupou
4. Feledy
5. Scolari
6. Large
7. Isdale/A. Conti
8. Utoikamanu
9. Da Silva
10. Pole
11. Galvin
12. Kautoga
13. Matamua

14. Valevatu
15. Miller
16. Nicholas
17. Tofaeono

let's see if I'm right in 5 years eh?
Wouldn’t it be good if developing ones own juniors ran seamlessly through to NRL like this 👍
We will invariably lose some along the way.

I also rate Wests Matt’s Cup fullback Luke Laulilii very highly.
