Penrith Bleating about Losing Juniors

The NRL have a task ahead of them in changing the recruitment window and giving clubs the best chance to retain their juniors.

Clubs should be given the right to make the first official offer to their juniors and given dispensation out of the cap to offer 10-20% more than any other club. I'm unsure whether the game can afford it but it would allow the smaller clubs a better chance to compete. There should also be a trade window to allow the clubs who have invested so much into the players a chance to recoup something from them should they want to leave.

If the Panthers don't like losing players from their gigantic nursery maybe they should give up parts of their nursery to clubs with smaller nurseries than they won't have to worry so much

They should be grateful they get 1st crack from such a huge nursery

They picked their halves and now other up and coming halves will have to look elsewhere for a chance

Suck it up IC you ungrateful germ

You don't mind screwing ppl and clubs when it suits but cry like a baby when karma strikes

Kicking the Roosters out would solve a lot of problems with juniors being poached.
Plus it would make a lot of people happy.

Again it isn't how many you can develop but making sure you keep the ones that will best suit the club's future ...you might produce 3 halves ...but make sure you keep Munster .....not Croft

I agree the system needs a overhaul. A few clubs put a lot of money and resources into developing juniors only to see the walk out the door to the parasites. Although all successful clubs get punished by the salary cap for being successful. Still would love a transfer fee implemented or even a cap benefit...but will never happen while a few teams control how the game is run

This..

happens to all Clubs...

There should be both a transfer fee for developed juniors who are signed by another club as well as say a 5% reduction in the contract amount attributed to the juniors Club whilst ever they remain contracted to their junior club..

The power Clubs would never go for it..

Wests Tigers have been bleating about this for at least 15 years. Yes there should be compensation for developing juniors.

Clubs that don’t develop juniors like the Storm and the Roosters should be required to pay a levy for each player under the age of 25 they recruit from another club.

To participate in the NRL, it should be mandatory for each club to field x number of junior teams in junior leagues. If you don't have them, you're out.

I really don’t understand this nonsense talk about some kind of cap relief or financial advantage for junior developing clubs.
FGS, the advantage is in the result of the development. Clubs would kill to have a regular flow of talent, that’s the objective, so why add another advantage? Why unfairly increase the caps for teams with an abundance of talent? Sounds ridiculous right? That’s because it is.

Say goodbye to the Roosters then, though not a bad idea.

When I was with Wyong Roos some years ago, they took the clubs juniors to trial with Easts and they could not field enough teams in the whole region to accommodate us.

Penrith and Ivan saddled us up with poor / costly recruitment that has impacted us for a few years.

No sympathy from me at all.

Come on Tigers management, rip them apart by poaching their juniors.

Dennis Tutty might have something to say about a transfer fee.

Totally agree that the junior club should get some compensation for developing the player.

He had a development contract. Penrith are crying about player that want to negotiate somewhere else at the end of their contract. Completely different situations.

Us signing Flegg and ball players is exactly what the roosters do.
