Penrith Players off contract

Why is that?

Big falling out when couldn't make FG, wasn't being told why or what he had to work on, then was selected as a starting 6 in State Cup. Got depressed, left the club and has publicly spoken about how poorly he was treated here. Shame really as he has talent but was never given a fair go here IMO.

Totally different coach here now, I wonder if he would reconsider? He plays hard, I would love to have him back here.

Ivan was the coach of Penrith when Sita signed there. So it may be more possible than you think Milkdog. He was only there for a month but he would have been heavily involved in recruiting him.

Lawrence should and will be a one club player. We have savaged our club legends too much already. We want player loyalty but when will we show some? Lawrence has destroyed his body for this club and we want to ship him to England?

Lawrence would make an excellent utility sub. Does a job at centre, six and backrow. Covers 6 of 13 jobs.

Totally agree, and he also renegotiated his contract down to help the club get under the cap, he deserves to be treated well and I hope he is.

x3
He really should be left alone until the end of his contract, he has sacrificed enough for the club and deserves to finish here on his terms, even if that is playing reserve grade, he is no longer on big $ and deserve all the money he has coming to him. He also fills a role at the club, both on and off the field.

I'd take him back, I think the big changes the club has made in regards to player welfare would also go a long way towards making him feel comfortable if he was to sign.

Due to the unknown salary cap the panthers can not get 4 players signed up. There on the max salary cap now

Viliane Kikau, sitaleki akoulia (ex tigers) and corey
Harawira are all off contract.. Id get rid of lovett, lawrence, rankin, naiaama, hunt and make a play for these three. They wont be on much. Big and mobile…

Make our pack on the bench very formidable...

Who is the fourth player?

sione katoa. A hooker. Dont need him. Penrith has done a frigging amaxing job.All thereplayers are signed up long term. There is going to be so much talent coming out of panthers nsw cup and under 20's soon.

They can't keep them all (Isn't that what they always said about our juniors).

He is also a Life Member of the WT, should be kept until his contract expires and then employed by the club in some role.

few corrections:

"Lawrence was a good centre (5-6 years ago), he was never 5/8 (brick hands, no kicking game) and was (still is) too small for backrow, (5-6 years ago) he covered 2 positions - wing and centre."

He is the club, battling away with limited resources, but nonetheless putting in the effort.

Not sure what you're correcting wise guy.

Lawrence is an industry standard backrower who if he was at a strong club would probably receive accolades similar to that of a Gavin Cooper. He has a 5 from 6 winning record starting at 6 and always does a decent job there and if he was forced to play centre because of injury as a bench utility, well you've got a former Australian centre who is a bit low on pace playing there. Could do worse. We've had Sitaleki Akauola playing on the wing before.

Lawrence has been a solid contributor who has been well paid for his service…..nothing more and nothing less. Unfortunately injuries are an occupational hazard. Yes we should respect his contribution but we don't owe him anything. This is how you get in trouble as a club, unfortunately there is little room for emotional and sentiment these days. It's a business and we need to be a lot smarter about how we run it.

I totally agree. We should show Lawrence some respect. He has been good to us and we should return the favour.

The way we treated Robbie was poor form.

We need to show that we are a club that act with integrity.

you cant go past this bloke when you want to describe a role model NRL player

Professional in every sense

I admire Chris for what he has done and his genuine commitment to the club.

But in the Book of Ivan the second commandment is "The star of the team is the team"

And as James graham said any one can get a tap on the shoulder to be replaced by a younger better player.

I'm not sure it needs to be this season but it's not far away.
