Pies : Where do you buy your favourite and what is it

The lady friend is dragging me to a place tomorrow down in Bowral that apparently does good pies. Not that i need to be dragged anywhere to eat a pie.

Cant believe I missed this thread.

Yatala Pie Shop is the best. Nothing fancy, just a Pie which you can have served with Peas, Mash & Gravy, they have a two lane drive-thru if your in a hurry, or plenty of seating on the deck or at the picnic tables around the gardens.

I also enjoy making a good Shepards Pie - You must use Hogget/Mutton and slow cook the muscle for 6-8 hours and it must have a pastry base.

And nothing beats making your own Party Pies for when the boys come over for the footy - Braise up some beef cheeks in red wine and add some caramelised onions.

I will definately not buy/eat a pie that has a puff pastry base. This is a big no no. Shortcrust Pastry is the only base for a pie!

You didn't miss this thread TW :roll

You told us how angry your wife gets when you go missing for a few hours if memory serves

Best pies ever come from Tigermama's kitchen. Family loves them. On the menu, once a week

damn they sound delish

what kind of pies?

All kinds pHyR93\. Basic steak n kidney, chicken pies, potato pies… I make a lot of Gourmet pies eg. Curry pies, Nacho pies vegetarian ones too like Feta and spinach. The family really love the Lamb and Rosemary with minted mashed peas in the bottom of it.
They also love the Bacon and Egg breakfast pies.
I bake some yummy sweet pies too. Leftovers are great for turning in to pies too. Yummo :stuck_out_tongue:

My God, they sound great! I'm on my way!

Don't listen to him, Tigermama, he has no idea - I'm an absolute gentleman! Can't vouch for Happy though

Not sure if it's still there or not

but if you're in the north shore / St. Leonards area

Romeo's Pies are divine.

and their chips are pretty amazing too.

Most memorable pie, some bakery in Berry. It was pretty damn good.

Used to work on Harris St in Ultimo, so I used to frequent Hannah's Pie shop front. For anyone that doesn't know, this is where Harry's Cafe pies are made. I don't mind the tiger curry pie.

Don't usually buy the cold/frozen ones any more, rather make it myself these days with half decent meat.
