I'll be in Gosford on the weekend so i might call in to Bremens at Umina. Home of supposedly the worlds hottest pie.

It is extremely hot. Don't ignore some of the other pies though, they have some tasty and unusual stuff. Coffee and cakes are pretty good too.

What are the prices like? I'm wary of pie shops. I found one down in Bowral about a yr ago and they charged you 35 dollars for 3 pies and a sausage roll.

Nothing like that. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head but more like $6 for the gourmet stuff. Flaming Ron might be pushing $10 these days.

Cafe Bariloche, Glebe Pt Rd, Glebe (opposite public library) - while you are there try empanada, probably the best empanadas in Sydney

Hey GNR,I live 10 minutes from Bowral and believe me they over price themselves only because of all the visitors from Sydney who expect to pay outrages prices because it is the Southern Highlands…travel a little south to Moss Vale next time and we have two really good bakeries who produce very good products, Pollies bakery and Southern rise, both in the main street and easy to find....you never know you could be pleasantly surprised..we even have a Vietnamese bakery who make the best bread rolls ever...

Stay well away from the Casino pie cart - at that rape in marriage court case he was the mongrel as it came out in evidence he never refrigerated the pies overnight. He just left them in the cart.

Had a Garlos for the first time today…for a mass produced supermarket pie they are pretty good...chunks of meat and flakey pastry...

Hey Geo,I know you are very fond of pies in whatever taste…I know we are discussing where to go and get a good pie and this is a slight variation,my darling partner rang me at work this afternoon and asked me to pick a couple of things up on the way home.....at the end of the conversation she says, sweetheart we are having " homemade Shepard's pies" for dinner..mate I gotta tell you they were sensational, the mince mixed with her recipe of ingredients such as, peas, carrots, onion, corn, with mashed potato on top sprinkled with grated tasty cheese and placed in the oven until the cheese melts and is golden brown....
I really love home made pies....cheers...

I have to agree with you TT. Home made are the best. No artificial flavours or colourings, just yummy flavour and goodness.
But just now and again grabbing a frozen pie for a snack or dinner from the super market is tempting, when you're busy or too tired to cook. I try and avoid that scenario, by baking a triple batch and freeze them, so there's always some in the freezer.
It's time consuming but worth it.

No sauce for me

Wife made me a pie last night after I moaned about missing pies.
Right now waiting for the sausage rolls to finish baking

Years ago worked with a Chinese guy from Indonesia, he would cover his meat pie in chilli sauce. He would sweat everywhere and when at toilet would burn his cake hole out

There are some good pie shops but I love home made pies and sausage rolls , mother inlaw make excellent one and we always order them before we head to queensland , it's the last phone call we make , hi don't forget dozen of each please , kids love them.
I will jag the reciepes for both and put them up , I've made the sausage rolls and they were good

Yummmo. How do you do your peas TW?
I simmer mine with some vinegar and then mush them. Always have them on the bottom of the pie.
