As fresh as they come, Waitoa has been plucked straight of Wainuiomata High School, a district of New Zealand with a proud rugby league history. Named the NZ Secondary Schools Player of the Year for 2010.
Jacob Miller, 18, halfback (Sydney Roosters):
A promising No.7 who may have to cut his teeth in Toyota Cup if Tim Moltzen is fit and Robert Lui beats an assault charge. Miller has been touted for his athleticism but also has question marks over his attitude.
Marika Koroibete, 18, wing (Fiji):
A speedy winger with touted defensive ability, Koroibete graduated to the Fiji national side while still at high school. Likened to compatriot Akuila Uate, he was sought after by the Knights before being lured to the Tigers.
Mosese Fotuaika, 18, prop (Keebra Park):
Another schoolboy product, Fotuaika joins the Tigers from Keebra Park, Queensland - one of the most dominant rugby league high schools of recent years. By all reports he is a barnstorming front-rower with a taste for try scoring.
Ratu Tagive, 18, wing (Canterbury-Bankstown):
Brother of former Tigers winger Peni, Tagive has a reputation as a speedy outside back who is safe under the high ball. The 18-year-old was part of the Bulldogs' Toyota Cup glory run in 2010 and is tipped to heap pressure on Beau Ryan.
Teqele Nayarvovo, 19, wing (Otahuhu Leopards - New Zealand),
A giant winger from New Zealand's top provincial team, Nayarvovo stands well over six foot and carries a 100kg-plus frame. With a further year of NYC eligibility, keep an eye on him to develop through the program.
