Players we have released

Am just looking at some of the players we have released.
Funaki on the bench for Wynum
Rowe leading Qld cup tryscorer
Hoeter in the centres for Townsville (scored a couple of tries), Santi on the bench
McConnachie on the bench for Ipswich
Seve 1 try for soyjs logan

Jeez we didn't lose much

I know, the same mentality that makes some people think our good players are better than they really are, has them thinking our lost backups are better than they are.

We've lost plenty of players over the years, very few of them go onto bigger and better things, especially not those we voluntarily let go.

We've let some good ones go. Koro, Fifita & Austin are all good players that looked great with us and against us.

The reserve grade players we've let go haven't really been an issue or at least I can't think of any examples when it has been an issue.

Yeah we have let a few guys go over the years, some have gone on to become good players, while others have fizzled and done nothing.

But nothing compares to the Dogs releasing Thurston, even though he desperately wanted to stay there. It must tear them up inside knowing they dumped the 9th immortal in favour of Brett Sherwin.

Interesting decisions…..funny thing Broncos had Seve on standby for one of their games this year....and yet he was not good enough for us - PERIOD.

And instead we play slow coaches like Milone last week.

We got rid of Koro because he was too mistake ridden, a defensive liability etc etc......but Melb snapped him up and ATM he would be in any 1st grade side as a winger...except ours. Its hard to beat raw speed and Koro has it.

Addo Carr also has it...that raw speed we saw in the 9's. Apparently he has a few defensive issues as well.........well why not fix them and have speed on our wing. No offense to Rankin but he's not a winger and his one on one defense when Uate scored was nothing to be proud of either.

we had nofoaluma and pat richards? how would you fit in koroibete into that

and yes he was AND STILL IS a defensive liability. funnily enough they don't have a highlights reels for 'tries let in.' his would be very long even under bellamy.

surprised we didnt pepper him with high balls - melbourne's ability to block chasers was pretty good though. we needed another 5-10m on some of those sets and definitely could have forced errors though. woods/sue should help with that

i think seve might be the only loss of them - i believe he claimed family reasons. but even him, we've only lost potential. he MAY be a good FGer in a couple of years time. we didnt see much with injuries and whatnot

We clearly don't know what to do with players. Gosh. Austin, Blair and Bodene Thompson were duds when they were here. Go elsewhere, instantly kill it. Especially Bodene, I rate him in my top 10 forwards of last year.

Heighington was moved on because of the boys' club and age. Looks like we kept the wrong members of that syndicate.

Here we go again…..
Austin, Blair, Thompson, Koro and Taupau did not want to stay. Were you going to chain them to the goal posts.

Martin imo will never be as good as Moses. Fifita is always a worry, depends which Fifita turns up on the day, (the one who can win you a game or that that can lose you the game), Heighington was always a plodder at best, (needed two balls one for him and one for the rest of the team). Halatau has this same disease.

So in a nutshell - they may do well for other teams but Wests Tigers are better off without them.

Heighington has been damn good for the sharks for the last 3 years, he creates a lot of second phase play with his offload, which we really need, and his defence is pretty good, he you know whats all over Halatau.

Think it's a bit pointless to go into players relesed like Fifita Korobiete Heighington etal as they were all done and dusted by previous management/Coaching staff…

As for the current coaching staff decisions i always get a giggle out of Blair...the majority of fans hated the guy and thought it was a great move to get rid of him until in hindsight not realising he plays much the same way now for the Broncs as he did with us only now he is surrounded by a quality team ...

Taupau the jury is still out has had a couple of good games for Manly as well as some pretty ave ones again much the same as here...plus the $$$$$ was the major factors ...given previous Cap managers we probably would have kept him so i think it was a good decision..

Austin took an opportunity at another Club much like he did when he left Penrith to come to us...lately has been spending more time on the sidelines than playing so not sure what value he's been for the Raiders...

Thompson was a big loss but again he was off contract was offered a 2 year extention but wanted to return home to NZ for family reasons so can't really say we let him go...

Martin just falls into the potential category great debut but far from ripping up the NRL yet...probably should have been kept this year but was always looking to move elsewhere..

The rest Liolevave Hoeter Rowe Parahi Funaki Seve McChonnachie haven't proved anything and hardly even played NRL or likely will they....

The rest ....

I still have the occasional chuckle on the Blair topic as well. Same player, different jersey.

I would have liked Taqele Naiyarovo to stay as well

Unfortunately we'll never know how good a NRL player he could have been as the 'Tahs signed him from the NSWRL Cup, would he have stayed if he had a crack at the big dance?.

I saw him play quite a few times in NSW Cup and he was always a standout.
I think we got him from Rugby initially so probably just prefers Union to League.

Martin to Penrith was a shocking decision.

Perhaps it was, it was his decision not the clubs, he was obviously low in the pecking order here but when he signed with Penrith I thought with Soward and Wallace I didn't expect he' get a run, D'oh.
