Players We Should Release Under Contract

People think its so easy to just release players and move on.. 🙄

Our biggest problem is trying to sign players of quality as we have the money..
I am just hoping our coach is sorted ASAP and he can have some pull and assist in getting a few more to help the youngest out.
Api and Papi as going to be excellent for us but will need help.
As much as people think we are a basket case we do have some real good players here and just lacking a few leaders to run the team around. Not to mention all the injuries we have had doesn't help.

I just see this thread as a bit of fantasy. If I created one saying we need to poach Munster and Cleary, it would be no more outrageous. I feel like the football department would get a good chuckle out of this thread. And they aren’t entitled to chuckle about much BTW

gee the office has stuck their necks out and still have their heads on risk managemant, its hard 2 bag out the office,im not there, the books are in good order, but something stinks in there
It's probably the dead fish that I nailed to the under side of Pascoe's desk

Gildart
I’ve never felt so justified in my life than when I said all summer how much of a flop he’d be. Shows anyone can look like a star over there, I might even go looking for a gig.
I think what's sad is there was no "plan". By plan I mean an attempt to deal with Gildart's weaknesses.
Take Benji going to Souths. Wayne Bennett knew Benji was a poor defender. Several games he did not send Benji out, because Benji had defensive gaps.

WB had a plan for a player, who can do miracles in Attack but has a weakness in defense.

So Souths brought Benji out as Off the bench impact.

Gildart IMHO could have been that player. What did the wests Tigers make him do:
Line up at Center.
Not clearly define our Back line! (or maybe not really define our center pairs well. Brooks, Hastings, Nofo and Ken M have been pretty constant).

We have defensive problems. We have defensive problems that put Daine Laurie and Gildart on the spot and we decided to hire them both!

Yes GNR4LIFE you were right. We should not have hired Gildart. I honestly thought "hey give the kid a shot" but in our side that is the WRONG idea. We needed a proven center and shirked those on the market.

When Melbourne replaced Cooper Cronk with Brodie Croft it wasn't seen as a downgrade. Instead they talked about what Brodie can bring to the table and what he did not have. We brought in Gildart without a plan or understanding of how he would fit into our team. Yes he can bring a bit of speed and attacking flair, no he can't bring defense. Why on earth did we hire him knowing that Laurie has defensive weaknesses and Defense overall Sucks!

in short:
it's not Gildart, its us.

Gildart could have fitted into a 14th man role at Easts or Melbourne. Would he have done well in a team that doesn't bleed 20 points per game? Maybe. Instead we took a weak defender, ignored this need for development and threw him in a side needing a strong defensive center.

It's not them, it's us.

I think most clubs would have brought Gildart over to learn the game. Ply his trade in reggies for at least half a season and then see how he goes. We threw him in round 1 because we had no one else. Such poor recruitment/retention gifted him a position he was in over his head in.

I am pretty sure it means condescending.
I suppose that’s the intent. I would say referring to people who have a particular point of view as an apologist is condescending. I thought this joint had gotten past trying to belittle others who hold a differing opinion to their own. My mistake.

Some of us respect all opinions even when they are wrong. 😜
Keep posting.
