Players We Should Release Under Contract

Hastings biggest attribute is organising the pigs right ? Something brooks lacked was his ability to get the forwards organised around the ruck .
Why can’t he do that like Trobojevic does for manly? Or Carrigan for the broncos .
It would mean he stand closer to ruck for the link play as well . Allow madden to get wider and Ad to be running lines and attacking between the 6 and slow transitioning middles or collapsing edges , to hit a fullback either swinging wide or hitting the hole created on the inside .

The reason people think brooks is shit is because of his kicking game ? Seriously that’s the reason! And it’s so important in modern football it’s a fair enough reason . Kicks need to be deathly accurate all the time .
Madden offers that . And much like Adam Reynolds for much of his career , this will allow his running game to open up , as if he’s a kick first half the space should be there for switched defenders .
Which is where it was for Reynolds most of his career .
Just my 2 cents
Edit;Hastings to 13 is what I meant .
The reason people think Brooks is shit is because he's shit.

The problem is no one wants them. Both hookers have been offered and not one club, even the Dolphins, has gone after them.

Gildart is about the only dud we have a chance of releasing as UK clubs will want him and he is a Pom / no visa needed.

Kepoa is a state cup player for most clubs...top 30 for us. Same for well over a dozen of them.

Simpkin has not been offered to anyone mate stop making up stories , it could change now though with a change of coach , which would benefit him as he is going backwards at this club as is everyone .

Yeah Hastings to 13 I think as well.

He's not the answer to the halfback. Best of what we have for sure but too slow and telegraphed for my liking. Kicking game isn't the best either.
I agree. He‘s been a short term solution to relieve Brooks, but anyone who thinks he’s the answer long term at 7 has rocks in their head. He couldn’t outrun my 82 year old grandmother. He’s a lock. It’s clear as day.

As other people said, there are plenty of issues with this approach:
1. Who do you replace them with? You need a mixture of youth, experience, skill and workhorses in the team. You will have 100K players playing as a 500K player (2nd year/ 3rd year players) and you will have million dollar players playing like a reserve grader.
2. These guys are entitled to the money. Brooks is entitled to his million dollars or 800K whatever it is. I can't imagine another club getting close to it. I can't imagine we will get 15 players going to Super League either.

It's great that we are investing in Junior Pathways but we need to hire good coaches throughout the grades. Head of Performance, S&C, physio, doctors everyone needs to be held accountable from start to finish.

I personally don't think Penrith is successful because of their Juniors, I think it's because of a good coaching set-up. They have had highly regarded people there like Gus, Ciraldo, Barrett, Wallace etc.

We need people who can get the best out of the team we have now. You can only build a good squad off the back of success, no player wants responsibility for the rest of the team. They want to win comps. We need someone to get these guys to punch above their weight.

Has Hastings been reading too many newspapers and believing his own hype. Looked pedestrian at best today. Taking the line half heartedly and kept relying on brooks to take the kick. If you want to be our number 7, step up mate .
I would think that the reason he isn't kicking for goal and possibly not as much in general play is due to his injury.

What I don't understand is Brooks getting tackled on the 5th which then excluded him from taking the kick on the last tackle.

Seems a bit dumb to me as I would have thought keeping the opposition in 2 minds as to who would be kicking on the last may having been a good thing as far as limiting pressure on our kickers, something we don't seem to be capable of doing to opposition kickers.

Some great news, I just read on nrl Web that Peachy told to look elsewhere and Brooks is set to be dropped. HALALEUA.
It's not looking rosey for Peachey but what about the rest of the team? Aren't they all in the same situation as Peachey?

We have to do a cull .. painful as it seems, but we have to face it sooner than later. Players we should let go:

James Roberts / centre
Jock Madden / halfback
Luke Brooks / halfback
Oliver Gildart / centre

Alex Seyfarth / prop
Jacob Liddle / hooker
Jake Simpkin / hooker
James Tamou / prop
Tyronne Peachey / back rower

Players already Leaving:

Kelma Tuilagi / back rower
Luciano Leilua / back rower
Luke Garner / back rower
Thomas Mikaele / prop

We already have Apisai Koroisau / hooker, and Isaiah Papali'i / back rower and more than likely several others to the club for next season.

We have in the backs the following players we need to develop into players able to play up to the NRL standard: (not fully sure of their actual positions but this is what i could find on them)

Asu Kepaoa / centre
Bent Naden / centre
Junior Tupou / fullback - centre - wing
Tommy Talau / centre
William Kei / wing - centre
Isreal Ogden / fullback - centre
Iverson Fuatimau / wing - centre
Logan Dillon / wing
Triston Reilly / centre - wing
Liam Scolari / fullback - wing
Zane Camroux / fullback - halfback

In the forwards we need to develop the following players up to the NRL standard as well:

Apisalome Saukuru / back rower
Austin Dias / prop
Brandon Tumeth / back rower
Fonua Pole / prop
Tukimihia Simpkins / prop - back rower
Christian Ma'anaima / prop
Harry O'Kane / back rower
Rua Ngatikaura / hooker
Sione Fainu / prop

With what we currently have, this what we could field next season.

1. Daine Laurie
2. Junior Tupou
3. Brent Naden
4. Asu Kepaoa
5. Starford To'a
6. Adam Doueihi
7. Jackson Hastings (c)
8. Stefano Utoikamanu
9. Apisai Koroisau
10. Zane Musgrove
11. Isaiah Papali'i
12. Shawn Blore
13. Joe Ofahengaue

14. Alex Twal
15. Fonua Pole
16. Christian Ma'anaima
17. Rua Ngatikaura

(puts flame suit on)

Just some minor updates:

  1. Stevanovic is playing KOE with Manly;
  2. Scolari is a winger (not halfback) that could become a fullback/centre or lock - doubt he is a typical size winger these days - can jump/catch and defend - hopefully still has speed when he comes back;
  3. Don't forget Kade Hill (2nd year Jersey Flegg) - promising halfback doing great things again this year.
