As other people said, there are plenty of issues with this approach:
1. Who do you replace them with? You need a mixture of youth, experience, skill and workhorses in the team. You will have 100K players playing as a 500K player (2nd year/ 3rd year players) and you will have million dollar players playing like a reserve grader.
2. These guys are entitled to the money. Brooks is entitled to his million dollars or 800K whatever it is. I can't imagine another club getting close to it. I can't imagine we will get 15 players going to Super League either.
It's great that we are investing in Junior Pathways but we need to hire good coaches throughout the grades. Head of Performance, S&C, physio, doctors everyone needs to be held accountable from start to finish.
I personally don't think Penrith is successful because of their Juniors, I think it's because of a good coaching set-up. They have had highly regarded people there like Gus, Ciraldo, Barrett, Wallace etc.
We need people who can get the best out of the team we have now. You can only build a good squad off the back of success, no player wants responsibility for the rest of the team. They want to win comps. We need someone to get these guys to punch above their weight.
