PNG Team Inclusion

Yeah tough sell mate, (4 me personally) haha
It’s a wild joint.
If I was there, earning around a mill - because that would be the going rate for an Aussie player- I would want my family in a gated community and everytime I travelled to Australia, I’d want security for them.

The logistics will be hard for ex pats..therefore there may not be any.
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if their whole top 30 will consist of local players only.

%100 @Tucker ex-pats won't leave their compounds
without private security details or 24hr local guides.
It is such a ridiculous, stupid political play, disaster
in waiting. I genuinely can't get over it the more I
think about it - half a billion dollars estimated cost.

Lessons on PNG on the forum tonight.

Ye olde forum never let’s us down on the hard issues.

So I consulted my cia world Factbook and Google and learned that their GDP per capita is only about one x 32 of ours.

Ms typical PNG “Headhunters” league fan if she visits Sydney to watch a game:

Port Moresby to Sydney flight @$629 return (stand by steerage)

Transport to LO @ $50 return from airport ( public transport)

Cost of ticket on outer : $25

1 x large chips: $14 Sauce: $2.50

Australian cost: $720.50

X 32 to cater for average PNG GPD = about $23,000.00

Which levelling out for your average PNG citizen is about 7 years of their salary.

Which is a lot of money to experience your only win of the season.

Look you are right.

But you would be fairly safe-ish.

Like one aid worker put it "I have seen horrible violence, but I have never seen a Brother kill his sister or father kill a son... Like they do here".

They may rob your family, but you just give up whatever. They won't harm you because they want NRL to come... or hey maybe they will. 100% don't piss people off, one guy I knew fired someone and that person died. They plotted to kill him for 3 months. A year later they explained "this is where we were going to kill you, we planned to chop your body here... and hide it here".

Yeah I want to describe the place correctly, but it’ll get a lot of noses out of joint on here…
It’s a wild, backwards shithole.

It looks like a failed state;

Out of 100.

It might be a good comeuppance for some of our alpha players who prey on woman to meet a few Raskols in the bird of paradise lounge before the flight home.

Awesome decision for the game, and for PNG.
For them, it will bring Aussie tourism and investment to PNG and turbocharge their economic development.
For us, it brings 10 million extra fans into the game, an expansion that the AFL could never match.

So yuh reckon they would be the 1st team ever to win ALL their home games haha.

Maybe we should relocate up there as a second side.

Sepik River Tigers.

And on GDP, the price of a large chips drops from $14 to about 44 cents on the hill.

As you mentioned the Sepic River, that reminded me that a cousin of my Mother worked at the Bamu River Mission for a couple of years and helped built a school there about 50 years ago.
I don't recall him ever mentioning there ever being any trouble where he was.

I’ve had two family members visit. No trouble for them, but they saw some violence in the jungle.

There might have to be a big nrl compound thing with heavy gates and barbed wire.

No, a nice peaceful part of the world. It’s the Highlands and those Highlanders who come to POM/Lae looking for work who cause a lot of the trouble.
