The question for non LNP die-hards must be whether Turnbull has the courage of his convictions.

Standing by Abbott's bumbling daily cycle of moronic buffoonery has left Turnbull looking rather wishy washy ethically.

Sure it's politics. But there's a desperate need to move beyond politics when it comes to climate change.

As we resign ourselves now to the impending likelihood of a 3 degree rise in temperature, it's surely time we actually genuinely thought about the interests of our children in terms of preventing a 4+ degree rise.

Anyone who doesn't know the implications of a 3+ degree rise and therefore the implications of the climate policies of who they vote for, needs to do some rapid getting up to speed on the dire future facing our children and grandchildren.

Nothing makes my blood boil more than both parties doing nothing yet saying they represent the interests of Australian families.

At the end of the day he will just be a figurehead. How he feels about the ETS doesn't reflect on what the LNP want.

I think that there may be a bit of a change in the behaviour in Politics if Turnbull gets in, I may be wrong, but hes not just a headkicker like Abbott.
He is entirely different type of bloke.
Most of Abbotts political life has been bullying his way through things.
There is no real sense of compromise, and thats one of the reasons that he could never get a lot of people onside(both in and out of politics)and i think he really didnt have a clue about the level of loathing that an incredibly large number of Australians felt.

As for Turnbull and the NBN. I saw him being interviewed about it three quarters of the way through last year.
He looked positively embarrassed about having to talk up such a turkey ,and it was obvious that he didnt believe what he was saying. One of the unanswered questions left him with a smile on his face as even he saw the joke in it.
But, thats part of the so called cabinet solidarity, in that position , your personal opinion is worthless.
I just hope if he ends up as the PM. that we see less of the hardcore Lnp ideology .
And a bit more awareness of what the rest of Australia wants, and needs, as well as , or more so,than what the big end donors want .
Just one other thing.
If Abbott does go , can he please take that smart a**se Pyne with him??

This country is paying over a hundred and ten million dollars in interest a day and the deficit is only getting bigger and bigger. Who cares who the leader is ?.Both parties should think of our future not their own when making decisions.

Honestly reminds me of our old board. Balmain v Magpies and who cares about WT attitude is exactly how our country is being governed and we all know the results of that. Our kids and future generations are going to pay for these grubs.Stop the BS and start governing both parties PLEASE.

Couldn't agree more, EODT! Problem is, in this world, money talks loudest and both parties will sell their soul to the highest bidding multinational in order to get the support they need to get their policies through. Labor slightly less so, as they have a history of thumbing their nose at big business somewhat, but that depends on who is leading them at the time. It's really the multinationals pulling all the strings and running the country to suit their own interests, not Labor, not Liberal, not any other party. Sucks big time, but what can we do about it?

Who? Kevin Rudd again. Is he the bloke on the left?

Col, it's a Simpsons reference. I'm sure you probably don't watch it because it challenges neo-con ideology, so you needn't worry about it.

I just wish my kids would stop driving me nuts telling me about why the Simpsons is so good for their education because of it's neo -con ideology

And I never believed them , go figure , I was wrong

Speaking of the Simpsons, i think Kang and Kotos taking over Clinton's and Bob Dole's bodies are better representations of the their country than Abbott is for ours.

This sums it up nicely.

If your local member of federal parliament is a Liberal (or even a National), send them an email (their website will have their contact details) to let them know who you want to be Prime Minister. Do it NOW - the leadership vote has been brought forward to tomorrow (9am Monday 9 Feb).
Your local member can only represent your views if you make them known.

Abbott defeats the spill 61-39.

40% of the party is against him less than a year and a half into the job. Dead man walking.
