If you dont rate Labor or Liberal then just put in a blank sheet….for gods sakes dont vote for these morons.

Mate, it's not your right to tell anyone how to vote.

I just voted and voted Labor. While I hate both parties, I refuse to vote for a party lead by Tony Abbott. Plus I like some of Labor's policies:

1\. NBN
2\. Mining Tax (wish it was still 40%)
3\. Carbon Tax is atleast on the agenda
4\. Small Business Tax reduction
5\. They have a policy on boat people… not some BS "I'll turn the boats around" policy
6\. Increase in Super contributions from 9 to 12%

Either way... I voted 'selflessly' and morally this election... even if both Labor and Liberal campaigns were disgustingly pathetic and negative.

I'm one of those mindless drones I guess Stryker...

Your policies listed - 1,2,3,5 are the exact reason I voted Liberal.

Could not agree more Kaiser, thats why I voted liberal :righton:

Well said.

I'm listening to this greens lunatic on channel 9 saying the greens would bring love back to the nation.

well Kaiser, for what it's worth I agree with you (although things don;t look good for Labor atm)

1 - NBN - Australia is a massive country with a very dispersed population and a large %'s of the economic drivers and population are from rural/ remote areas yet people still question the need for a top quality data network to include and maximise the opportunities and contributions from this vital part of Australia. Don;t worry. Abbot's 2 tin cans joined by a bit of string will keep us going for the next decade. she'll be right.
2 - mining - not a huge fan of this policy as it's mainly a cash grab but the mining industry hasn't been paying it's fair share for some time so i can live with it. Regardless of what the mining magnates say (they do have a slightly vested interest in ousting Labor) they will not be cutting back their operations in Aus. because even with the tax they are still and will always be soooo profitable.
3 - carbon - a cap and trade scheme would have worked but unfortunately the ALP didn;t actually bother trying to explain it so the lib's scare campaign worked well and was the direct cause of rudd's demise
4 - noone seems to be arguing about this one
5 - boat people - the libs have been playing this scare tactic for a decade (remember children overboard anyone) and it works a treat. If you add up all the boat people from the last decade you wouldn;t fill the MCG and yet it's a major political issue??? For those that think these evil subhuman refugees are taking their jobs, their women and their homes you're so very wrong (regardless of the humanitarian concerns which the libs have so successfully buried in their spin). The fact that this is such a massive issue is a masterpiece of fear mongering and spin over substance. In an actual overview of effect on Australia refugees in general and boat people in particular is a complete non-issue.
6 - cf 4

To be honest though I don;t think either of these parties deserves to govern our great nation atm as they are both acting like irresponsible children. No vision, no leadership and no plan other than saying you're worse than we are nery nery ner ner.

In the Senate I voted for the Aus. Sex Party for one policy and one policy only - they have pledged to remove the tax exempt status from all religions. Should have happened decades ago.

Do you have a problem with people in the military getting kicked out of their military homes just so boat people can live in those military homes? I sure have a problem with that. There are plenty of homeless people in Australia already. We should be looking after our own people first. Not all of these boat people are refugees. Alot of them are lying and are just cheating the system and so many of them are getting away with it. We must look so weak to so many countries. It's a non-issue for you maybe.

I assume you're talking about the Berrimah accomodation Alien? perfect example of the scare campaign working.

IF that had gone ahead Defence would have scored some extra Govt. money (because of this) to speed up and expand the current defence housing program in that area creating some decent married quarter accommodation and moving the ADF members into these updated (ie. better) quarters. (the ones they were in which would then become hand-me-downs to the refugees were pretty ordinary (the quality of defence housing in some areas is a completely different debate)).

I don;t know but I wouldn;t be surprised if Defence Housing actually came up with this idea in an attempt to backdoor the process of getting extra non-Defence money to update/ create new quarters for their members (it's certainly what I would have done in their shoes). As it didn;t go through noone will ever say and we'll never know.

I would prefer them to build to better homes first and then move the people in the military out of the older homes. Why should boat people get a place to live before Australians who are homeless? We should look after our own FIRST.

I am with you Alien. And where is the link to prove funding was given in exchange to move defence families out of their homes and into sub- standard accomadation?

if these boat people are harmless then why are they risking life and limb to get away from people that are culturally the same as them.because they dont trust them.thankgod your not pm softlaw or we would have exactly that (softlaws) and our nation would become overloaded with people not holding the australian ideal.you need a strong cup of coffee so you can wake up and see whats really goin on in this country.

Our massive landscape is the reason why we shouldn't be paying to connect cable to each house. Every other country that has done it has friendlier terrain and is more densely populated. Abbotts plan makes sure that people in rural areas get hooked up so they can cover all their business requirements… it's just their video might be a little more grainy.

The mining industry already pays a 7% state based resources tax above the normal 30% tax for every other industry. Adding taxes just makes marginal projects less viable and hurts employment.

Too right. The hedge fund that I work in was really looking at profiteering from the Carbon trading. We were pretty disappointed in Krudd.

Yep. Agreed. However both parties now have the same policy, it's just that Julia wants to make hers look different by wasting more money to build a new structure in a country that hasn't agreed to it. Simple maths for me.

… I think you can tell I voted Liberal.

This is going to carryon for the rest of the week apparently…However whatever the result ends up being, the Labor party should be absolutely embarrassed by the massive swing against them.

Liberals are currently smashing them in the Primaries and are tipped to be ahead after the two party preferred votes are distributed as well.

However I still see Labor being returned to power through their manipulation of Katter and Windsor through their ridiculous NBN propossal and they seem to already have Brandt onside.

We could see a government that actually lost the election returned to power.

The only real winners are The Greens.

Roughly translated Austalia is the loser.

I don't understand why Tony Crook is being counted as a Coalition win. WA Nats are NOT in the federal Coalition. He should really be listed as "other". It would be good to see Wilson Tuckey gone though.
