Popular opinion as measured by Gallop is not informed opinion. Nor are the beliefs of the American public. Gallop are merely an opinion measuring opinion, they’re not authorised as such.

Far from relying on information from “my government” I’ve spent a reasonable amount of time studying the Kennedy assassination. Any decent trained investigator who’s studied the evidence will tell you Oswald alone killed Kennedy.

The 9/11 thing the evidence is ample that Al Qaeda operatives hijacked planes that they flew into buildings. My mother personally knew someone on one of the flights.

I’m not so concerned with how many do or don’t believe conspiracy theory explanations. I’m interested in facts and reasonable explanations.

“Decent trained investigator” may be none of those things

“Ample evidence” may not be exhaustive and consider everything required. There was at one point ample evidence that the vaccination stopped you getting covid. The evidence has since got more ample

Knowledge of an individual on a flight doesn’t mean the overall trotted out story is true or not

“Explanations” are subjective and just because one is inconsistent with your view of the world doesn’t make it invalid or even unreasonable

I’m open to all possibilities on all things and encourage it for all but respect the individuals right to their opinion, but they should always remember it is their opinion and others may think differently and that’s okay

Who knows?

Trouble with evidence is ultimately what the public has access to.

Motive is more reliable.

And with conspiracy theories well some are whacky some are half truths.

The whacky ones distract from perhaps more plausible theories.

If one studies history, especially over 100 years it is evident that what the authorities discussed and their motives for action were mostly shielded from public consciousness.

Hard to believe that the same is not occurring today from national and non national actors from all compass points.

It is ironic but let's be clear. I like facts and reasonable explanations. Look at the discussion on abortion rights earlier. I don't want the extremist debate but somehow that is where it goes. Why ? Why does all this other nonsense get bought up.

Same could be said about you...being played that is...Earl...you may want reasonable explanations etc,but are you really getting what you want,the world isnt as simple as it seems,it has been stated many times that there is plenty of mis/dis information out there,what is truth and what isnt,,,I research plenty of sites,listen to mainstream news and try to sort out the crap from the truth from either,however its not that easy...so in summation you have your viewpoint and opinions and myself and others have theirs,combined make for good conversation,having said that what causes grief and arguments is that one side thinks theirs is the right and the others are wrong...

I don't think this is true. I think my bar of proof is significantly higher than yours. My dad doesn't get played much either. I think it's something related to our genetic make-up. Some people are more prone to depression for instance (this happens in my family).

My FIL is a smart guy who has done very well but he gets played. He is wealthy and someone in his ethnic group killed their family. My FIL was being approached via lawyers to pay their legal fees. I went off my nut at a restaurant because he was discussing this and the people that were there were agreeing with him. I told him that guy killed his parents and that shit was wrong. I was right. He was wrong. He was found guilty of killing his family. My FIL has bought magnets to use in his shoes or seats or whatever and he has bought special water and stuff. He isn't dumb.

I think right wing extremists/conspiracy theorists just have something wrong or different in their genetic make-up. It's not meant to be judgement. My family has a history of depression.

I agree that the world isn't simple. It's not the issue though. The issue is how certain types of people are easily led.

It's not about being on my high horse. I clearly stated how my family has a history of mental illness and I believe that being prone to believing conspiracy theories and right wing extremist nonsense probably has a genetic trait.

Some people are tall and some people are short. It just is. There is no need for the value judgement.

This makes it easier for me to understand as well.

I'll tell you an interesting one. I am reading a book on dopamine. In the book they state that conservatives tend to actually give more or contribute more to helping people out but they also get all riled up about immigration. Liberals tend to give less but they view the whole of human society as needing support. It's a different outlook.

I'm trying to be more mature and it's freaken hard but if I don't view you as stating stupid BS and telling you to STFU but instead I go well they are prone to believing crazy stuff because they have some genetic trait that makes them that way it's much easier for me to handle.

Earl I really appreciate your honesty of your families mental history,I never expected that from you,my points have been made through my own research and my opinion whether it doesnt suit you or others of the same ilk,it still is what I feel is going on in the world today...I did hear on a website today that the Brazilian army has taken over and overturned the Brazil election because it was stolen...whether thats true or not,it is still a point of interest and election fraud could happen anywhere,who knows what goes on that we arent privy to...
To claim that Iam a conspiracy theorist just because I have my own opinion and doesnt suit yours doesnt mean your right and Im wrong..
As I said yesterday there is so much crap going on in this world today that sorting through truth and falsehoods isnt easy...as matter of fact life gets harder and not easier,just look at fuel,grocery costs compared to wages and/or the unemployed...
Lastly how can you say someone has a genetic difference just because the are left or right thinking for eg...
people grow up and make their own choices,my father was in the second world war from a young age(17),his relations were killed in the first ww they all went into the army to defend their country is that genetic also?do I have to take up arms and fight and kill because my dad and his relos did...I dont think so...
Love conversing with you but I have to admit I dont agree with the them against us crap...never have never will...I also said to Yoss yesterday..."it would be a boring life if we were all exactly the same""....
I have the opinion that I vote for whoever has the best policies and interest of the country and people first whether thats Liberal,Labor or whoever....

I totally agree. Sometimes it's hard to convey a point but I don't think lots of things in life are so black and white. Genetics matter but you can choose how to live your life.

I don't want a world like this either but I believe we need to talk to the moderate position. The discussion on Abortion sums it up to me. There is a middle ground but we start discussing it and it gets side tracked by extremism.

I agree with the abortion argument...its best left alone IF it doesnt concern you is my attitude..
I also absolutely hate that kids in America can go to California and have gender surgery WITHOUT parental consent...that is a new law that Newsome wants to enact..
So as we say there are many differing opinions on different subjects...
Each and everyone of us is entitled to an opinion without being ridiculed for it...once it starts to get argumentative about who is right and who is wrong,then the positive aspects of our being is bought into question...why hate on each other for an opposing opinion is my main belief...
